My husband and I are both white, with a French last name as he is French. We are pregnant with a boy and want a French first name as well, given they sound so good together. We love the name Roy.

That being said, I feel like it’s nice to have a formal and informal name. Leroy is perfect, but we have gotten comments “isn’t that a black name?” despite it having a multi-cultural origin.

I need advice, is it problematic to be white and name our baby Leroy?
