I HAVE A THEORY FOR THE UP AND COMING SUBNAUTICA 2 STORYLINE
ok so in the trailer for Subnautica 2 we see that DNA mutation will be a big factor within the game which had me thinking BECAUSE within the dev logs we also see that another big thing in the game will be that your characters body will be cloned and thrown back out into the world to continue experimenting Mickey 17 style.
BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT!
you see where I'm going with this is there is only one other time within the subnautica francize that we are told of a species that has a body made up multiple different organisms.
in below zero we are told by the Architect Al-AN that the organic parts of the architects bodies are bioengineered out of 27 different species and that they can simply just rebuild their bodies over and over again when injured but that they as a species continue to try and cure the kharaa since the fact that their bodies are made of these different species means that those species would be at great risk due to the virus having already adapted to their body types through the architects.
THATS RIGHT PEOPLE THE ARCHITECTS!!1
YOU THOUGHT WE WERE DONE WITH THEM BACK IN BELOW ZERO WELL THINK AGAIN BECAUSE ITS ROUND THREE AND I THINK WE MIGHT JUST BECOME THEM THIS TIME.
My theory is that this time around we will witness the beginning of their race through our own mutation which while may seem strange on the timeline considering that the species had been theorised to have collapsed by the time that subzero begins (in a sort of Schrödinger's cat type of way) though we must remember we are dealing with a VERY advanced species here that has access to near instant teleportation across entire worlds so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch (yes it would) to say that might have encountered time travel in their vast development.
This would explain why they had already had such close eye on the early planet earth shown in the artifacts in their quarantine control base e.g. the ancient earth blade
anyways thats just a theory blah blah blah...
oh and also possibly completely unrelated to the previous theory yet also maybe a lot related but the voices in the trailer are possibly not from a PDA and in fact directly into the mind of the player linking to where they say that "if you hear voices or feel the urge to swim to the tree" which I think because at the end of the trailer the voice line "I know where this mission end. you'll join us soon enough" meaning these are either the dead voices of people who went to the tree and never came back (even with their clones) with the tree using them like a siren to draw us in.
OR
we are REALLY leaning in deep with the architects and that scene we see while the voice line is playing is actually an early development architect base and the voices are the telepathy that we the architects seem to communicate via!
