I’m trying to figure out if what I’m dealing with lines up with diversion colitis.
I’ve got a loop ileostomy after J pouch surgery, and the pouch isn’t connected yet. For the past while, things have been getting seriously rough. They gave me antibiotics and the pain and bloody rectal output got better, but it all came back as soon as the course was done. I’m back on antibiotics now, and it is getting better again. The bloody mucus and running to the toilet at night are still there. It just makes it more bearable, like 4 trips instead of 15. That is an improvement. It honestly feels much like the Ulcerative Colitis that I had, just a bit more painful and more general pressure in the anal region
I’ve got a pouchoscopy scheduled in 9 days to see what is going on.
Would really appreciate hearing how others got through this part. I am getting depressed stuck on the sofa all day. When I walk, I have to do it in slow mo or the pain and bleeding gets really bad in the evenings.
