Stopped from entering work because of shorts — double standards?

Today I was stopped at the entrance of my workplace because I was wearing casual shorts. The security guard told me men aren’t allowed to enter with shorts. I asked if this was an actual rule or law, since I regularly see female colleagues wearing short skirts. His response was basically: ‘Women can wear whatever they want, even bikinis, but men in shorts are not acceptable, and started to question my gender “are you a man or a women”.

Because of this, I wasn’t allowed to work that day. I felt singled out and confused — especially since it was hot, and I thought shorts would be fine.

I’ve always felt disgusted by this double standards sense we face it in schools already and now even when we are grown adults, I’m starting to think if this country is really worth staying at fr.

Has anyone else dealt with gender-based dress code rules at work? How do you handle situations where policies feel inconsistent or unfair?
