Advice for women !
Hi girls!
Ive been on here a few times asking for help with my vagina as i always get reoccurring thrush/bv.
Lately ive had a watery discharge, with a fishy/ammonia smell and it WASNT bv. Every test kept coming back negative but i knew there was something wrong. I ended up going private because i feel like the NHS were digging deep enough and if this meant I had to pay to get in depth testing done then I was going too.
Recently went to a private gyno who specialises in the microbiome of the vagina. I explained everything to him, all the symptoms, the timelines of things, what antibiotics ive had ect. Since doing my research on the vaginal microbiome, something called UREAPLASMA kept on coming up. Since the standard NHS in uk cant test for this, you have to go private. I knew something was up so I asked for a ureaplasma swab to be taken and sent off.
Turns out I infact do have ureaplasma and I can now be treated for it. After 3 months of not knowing the cause of the smell/discharge, i finally know. I knew i wasnt going crazy when all tests kept coming back negative. Girls if you feel like something is off, trust your gut instinct!!!
Ureaplasma is usually a healthy bacteria, but it can overgrow and cause foul smelling odour, watery discharge that is a tinge of yellow/green with a fishy/amonia smell.
If your tests for bv keep on coming back as negative, please take this further and find someone who can treat Ureaplasma.
I hope this helps!!
