As for the future here are my plans:

I will be joining Mock Trial, Model UN, and a business club at my school next year (weren't offered at my local school)

My new school is very competitive and offers about half of the APs and many Advanced Topic classes, but I'll be capped to a total of 9 AP and/or advanced topic classes

Also note my new school doesn't provide student rankings, and the only comparison colleges will have from me to other students is in the school profile where they provide the middle 50% of weighted GPAs

I'll be running for BPA National Executive Council next year

I will be the founder and president of my BPA chapter next year

ok so I’ve taken the SAT twice this week, once at school and once today, and the English felt choppy as normal but I felt soooo locked on the math both times. anyone else had this experience?😭 Im at a 1440 (750 RW 690 Math)

also, why were some of the questions lowk the same?😭

Hey guys! I'm a student from rural Idaho, and I've been faced with two really hard options.

  1. I can go to Cranbrook, a boarding school in Michigan, for the last two years of high school
  2. I can still go to my local school next year and graduate a year early

Stats I'd have as a rural student by the time I graduate:

7 APs (Bio, Chem, Physics, Calc AB, Lang, Lit, Stats)

Self Study 5 APs (Precalc, Macro, Micro, Gov, US History)

Idaho BPA State President

BPA Member - 3 Years

1st Place Payroll Accounting - BPA State

3rd Place Fundamental Accounting - BPA State

3rd Place Business Management Marketing and Human Resource Concepts - BPA State

Previous BPA chapter treasurer

DECA Member - 2 Years

2nd Place Financial Services Team - DECA State

Speech and Debate Varsity Member - 2 Years (running for captain)

District Speech Champion in Panel Discussion

District Debate Champion in LD Debate

1440 SAT (690 Math, 750 RW) (retaking multiple times before apps)

68ish Dual Enrollment Credits

4.0 UW GPA, no Weighted GPA

Valedictorian

In the process of starting a mock trial team across both high schools in my area - will be founder and executive president of both school's teams

In the process of starting a model UN team - will be president/founder, and possibly executive president and founder of both school's teams

Raised $15,000 for mental health therapy with a local non profit (participating in same fundraiser again this year)

starting a non profit that will provide funds for mental health therapy as well

Chick-fil-A - Team Lead (2 years @ 15 hrs/week, year round)

Texas Roadhouse - Host (1 year @ 20 hrs/week, year round)

Stats I'd have at Cranbrook by the time I graduate:

9 APs (Bio, and Lang, last 7 are undecided. The school offers almost every AP imaginable, but limits students to 9)

Self Study 5 APs (Micro, Gov, US History)

Idaho BPA State President

BPA Member - 4 Years (Founder of chapter @ Cranbrook and President)

1st Place Payroll Accounting - BPA State (Idaho)

3rd Place Fundamental Accounting - BPA State (Idaho)

3rd Place Business Management Marketing and Human Resource Concepts - BPA State (Idaho)

Previous BPA chapter treasurer

DECA Member - 3 Years (Founder of chapter @ Cranbrook, and President)

2nd Place Financial Services Team - DECA State (Idaho)

Speech and Debate Varsity Member - 3 Years

District Speech Champion in Panel Discussion (Idaho)

District Debate Champion in LD Debate (Idaho)

1440 SAT (690 Math, 750 RW) (retaking multiple times before apps)

42 Dual Enrollment Credits (Idaho Community College) + Whatever I can get at Cranbrook

4.0 UW GPA from my Idaho high school (weighted GPA isn't a thing at my school) (No clue what my Cranbrook GPA would be)

Raised $15,000 for mental health therapy with a local non profit (participating in same fundraiser again right now, and likely would for all 4 years)

starting a non profit that will provide funds for mental health therapy in Idaho over the summers

Chick-fil-A - Team Lead (2 years @ 15 hrs/week, year round)

Texas Roadhouse - Host (1 year @ 20 hrs/week, year round)

If I stay here I'm aiming for U of M Ross, but if I go to Cranbrook I'm aiming for Wharton. U of M also has a special reader for people coming from Cranbrook who understands the rigor of the courses, and therefore Cranbrook students get admitted at a very high percentage, so I think if I go to Cranbrook the school I'd end up at would be U of M if I don't get in to Columbia or UPENN.

I was also told during my interview that I'd likely be right in the middle of the pack in terms of my high school, but that the top 20s look at my application differently than they do for applicants from public high schools.

---Cranbrook also has some amazing college admissions counselors that are professionals in helping get kids into top schools, and I'd receive a level of support in the college admissions process that I wouldn't even receive a fraction of if I stay in Idaho. I'm talking they craft your activities list to look good on college applications, help you write and edit your essays, ect.
