Tried the Udaan Yatri Cafe at Hyderabad RGIA and honestly the execution feels like a complete miss.
Yes, the prices are genuinely affordable compared to the ridiculous airport food pricing everywhere else. But the placement makes absolutely no sense. It’s located right near the entrance before check-in/security, tucked away in a corner where most passengers rushing into the airport won’t even notice it.
Realistically, who’s stopping for coffee or snacks before baggage drop, check-in, and security clearance? Most people just want to get airside first and relax near their gate.
What’s more disappointing is that after security there’s not a single Udaan Yatri Cafe near the gates where passengers actually spend time waiting. That’s where affordable food options are needed the most.
The whole thing feels more like a PR/showpiece initiative than something designed around actual passenger behavior and airport flow.
Meanwhile in some other airports, these cafes are reportedly placed closer to boarding areas and waiting zones where passengers can actually use them properly. Hyderabad’s version just feels like a token installation for headlines rather than something planned around actual passenger convenience.
