I'm an incoming freshman at Howard. Though I have been to IMO (scored very less, <5, out of 42), the fact that Howard is a non-target school makes me doubt that I have a realistic chance. I'm planning for a double major in Physics+Mathematics. Suppose that I start learning to code from now on, and try to get into some quant competitions by 2nd/3rd year, can I really grab that internship? I don't know when I'm supposed to make quant models, and study finance (which is completely unrelated to my major). How much of a realistic chance do I really have?
I'm having a really weird feeling at this point, and a part of me wants to reconsider the path I should take (like engineering or stg else).
If I somehow convince myself that I can grab this, I am ready to go all out. Someone please show me a path.
