AITJ for not doing enough on mother’s day?
I just wanted to check here to see if I am the jerk. My wife states that nobody ever thinks of her for Mother’s Day and she always gets the short stick. Below is what was done this year with just as much effort for every special occasion.
Before Mother’s Day, the flowers all came on Thursday and Friday forgetting I ordered not only dozen assorted flowers, but also 50 of her favorite flowers to put her around the house.
So I’ll start from the beginning. She woke up around 5 AM on the couch where she passed out the night before and prefers for me to leave her rather than getting her to go upstairs. I shoot her back upstairs and told her to rest and come down when she felt ready to which she came down around 8 AM at that point I had already fed the dogs and was packing up the kids and dogs to drop the dogs off at daycare and get donuts with the kids. Our oldest wanted to stay behind and I was told to leave her so I did.
Before leaving, I asked if she wanted Dunkin’ Donuts she said no. I got her donuts from a different donut shop and got dunks for my mother who prefers it and we’d be seeing later in the day came home with that and when she saw the dunks for my mother, she got angry on where was her coffee?
After that, she opened her presents from each child and each dog. Anything from custom-made blankets to sweatshirts.
Then she went upstairs and took a shower as I kept all the kids busy. A quick sidenote was I verify the night before she didn’t want breakfast in bed and did not want me making her breakfast.
Later, before lunch we went to my family‘s house which she previously talked about agreed on with them. I gave her the option of getting out of going because I prefer staying home. I also gave her the option of me just taking the kids to my parents house and her getting the house to herself with no dogs or kids.
So I brought everyone there and then went to get lunch from her favorite place and then my mother‘s favorite place. During that period my sibling had a fight with one of their children, and then left with them.
She ended up, refusing to eat the food I bought for her which was thrown out in the end.(no one else likes it and it’s one of her favorites.)
So am I the jerk because I’ve been getting an earful about how nobody ever tries for her.
