Anime Designs for Epic the Musical Characters, Day 3: Polites

Anime Designs for Epic the Musical Characters, Day 3: Polites

Onyankopon from Attack on Titan wins for the design of Eurylochus. Shout out to u/Sufficient-Prune8588 (again!) for their second place nomination of Dutch from Black Lagoon. At the end of this, I will also post a chart of all the second place suggestions and we can compare them.

I’m now realizing that starting this competition on the week of the 3rd and 4th of July may not have been the best timing, but oh well. Because two of my suggestions have won so far, I am going to take a break for this round. Now we are onto the next character; Polites!

The Rules:
- IMPORTANT! The character MUST be from a Japanese anime film or tv show.

- Western animation that is inspired by anime will not count. So unfortunately no Avatar the Last Airbender or shows similar to that.

- Now, this is supposed to be a fun game and competition. Please be good sports and DON'T down vote suggestions.

- Please provide an IMAGE of the character you are nominating. Don’t just comment with a name. Not everyone may be familiar with the character.

- You can’t nominate a character as themselves (IDK if there are many anime adaptations of Greek mythology but the rule still stands)

- Vote by upvoting the suggestion you suggest. NOTE, if the same character is suggested more than once, I will only count the one with the highest number of votes

Anime Designs for Epic the Musical Characters, Day 1: Odysseus

Hey guys, I’m finally back with my casting competitions. If you didn’t see my previous posts, I won’t be doing a Live Action competition. u/nt_king300 is doing one and I highly recommend that you all go support them. Instead, we’ll be doing a new competition that I’ve been wanting to do for a while; casting anime characters as the character designs in a hypothetical anime adaptation of Epic the Musical.

If you’re new to these contests of mine, here’s how they work. The thought process behind the original 2D Animated one was: imagine that Epic was made into an animated project (which hopefully it will be with the movie getting announced), what would you want the characters to look like?’ So people would nominate a character from a 2D animated film/series whose design would be a good look for the corresponding Epic character. We repeated it with 3D animated characters and are now onto Anime.

Now is this repetitive of my original 2D animated character game…yes. But do I still want to do it anyway…also yes. Anime was one of Jorge’s inspirations for Epic afterall.

Also u/Public-Try173 is doing a very similar competition where they are choosing characters from My Hero Academia to play characters from Epic. I just want to be clear that I had this idea for anime characters a while back so I’m not intentionally ripping them off. Go check them out.

We repeated it with 3D characters and now we’re doing a more specific version of anime characters only.

For day one, we will be starting with Odysseus. Because it usually takes some people a few days to come across these competitions, I usually end up doing a redo of Odysseus at the end. To try and get ahead of that, I’m going to keep the voting for Odysseus open for two days before choosing a winner and moving onto the next character.

IMPORTANT! Now in the 2D competition, there were some anime characters who either won or came in second place for a few Epic Characters. This includes Toru Hagakure winning as Aeolus and the Susuwatari from the Ghibli animations as the Lotus Eaters; while Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle came in 2nd place for Apollo as did Guts from Berserk as Ares, Madame Gina from Porco Rosso as Hera,  Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen as Tiresias, Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke as Telemachus, and the Tree Spirits from Mononoke as the Lotus Eaters. While these were all great choices, for the sake of creativity, I will say that these characters can’t be nominated again and I will remind you guys as we go along.

Does this help Obsession’s chances for Award Season?

I know there has been a lot of discourse about if Obsession will get any award nominations. But with Oscar winners like Spielberg speaking positively of the film, will that improve its chances?
