I moved in together with my girlfriend yesterday and though I am kind of handling it well, I feel internally vibrating and could use some advice and kind words.

Yesterday, me and my girlfriend moved in together, into a newly built apartment in the city where we lived before, but much nicer and quieter. Four years ago, with that situation, I'd had found myself in a really bad meltdown right now. Everything is standing around and it seems like a never ending challenge to put all the stuff we have (and especially she has a lot) into their right places. Today, though I am internally and mentally vibrating due to discomfort of the situation, I am kind of handling it well.

How did you people handle moving in together? I probably could use some advice as I feel my tension increasing and I don't want it to escalate.

I made my own playmat

My girlfriend gave me Wingspan Asia as a Christmas present last year, and as a former PhD student in the wide field of ornithology, I (we) absolutely love this game. We live in Switzerland, and Asia has quite some overlap with the species we regularly observe outside, which is really nice.

Out of curiosity, and to expand the bird flock, I bought the European expansion. However, we then had a request to play together as a group of four. Faced with not wanting to buy the original game, I started thinking. Asia and Europe together have a fairly similar number of birds and goals, compared to the original game, but one thing that's definitely missing is two additional player mats.

Faced with this "issue", my designing-loving ass started to hyperfocus on one thing. How do you like it?

I'll send it to a shop that specialised on printing custom playmats on neoprene.

Moving in with my girlfriend in the same city, but I still feel overwhelmed and could use some advice

Hi everyone. I’m not really sure how to deal with this mentally, so maybe someone here has some kind words, tips, or strategies.

I met my girlfriend three years ago. We got together about four months later, and we are really happy with each other. We decided that we want to move in together this year. For me, this will be the first time in 12 years that I’ll be living with someone.

I’m a member of a housing cooperative, and we both thought it would be nice if we could rent a flat through them. Last Friday, we went to see one of their newly built flats in a quiet area of the city where we live, and honestly, we were both blown away by how nice the flat and the area were.

Today, I got a quasi-confirmation that we can have the flat. And almost immediately, I started to feel bad because of all the change that is coming towards me. Living with someone, having different and sometimes much longer routes to places that are part of my everyday life, like my climbing gym, organising a household together, changing routines, sharing space. All of these insecurities suddenly came up.

The strange thing is that I feel like I should be happy. This is a once in a lifetime chance to live in a really beautiful place with someone I love. But instead, I feel overwhelmed and scared.

I don’t know whether this is a rant about myself, a request for kind and affirming words, or a question about strategies for moving in together for the first time. Maybe it is all of those things.

I’m 34, I have a doctoral degree, and right now I feel like a child who cannot deal with change.

My girlfriend got me Wingspan Asia for my birthday and I absolutely love it. Now, however, I wonder whether it is possible to add the European expansion pack and play with the birds (and the goal cards) of these two sets together.
