I could do with a dummy (and yes, I’ve used Chadder’s SIM)

In FFXIV, there are dummies everywhere which you can practice combat on. Super useful for slowing stuff down, learning the UI and seeing your rotation

I kinda need this in Rebirth. I understand the combat but my synergy usage doesn’t feel optimized. I find the pace at which the folio unlocks against how often I’m trying my synergy stuff (the moves on R1) tricky

I’ve watched tutorial videos. It’s a lot.

Can someone give me like a no BS n00b view of how to use synergies? I’m a chill player on normal current 20h in at Junon, just after dolphin.

I DO the combat simulator but it’s straight up not a great place for slowing down and learning.

Rebirth > Remake

~20h in, currently in Junon and think this might be the best game I’ve ever played!

I did everything in grasslands because I’m having so much fun and usually I make a beeline for main story quests because otherwise I never finish video games

I didn’t play the original (I know I know but I never had ps1) but I understand the whole game opens up after midgar…but my GOSH is there a difference between remake and rebirth lol

Makes you wonder how many people miss out on the beauty of rebirth cos they got put off by sun lamps or the sewers lol

Reminds me of FFXIV without the MMO aspect which I love - like the towns, worlds and music!

Steam Deck or Switch 2

Hey - I have Rebirth on steam deck but struggling with graphics. Characters / background seem fuzzy even when I’ve tweaked relentlessly with settings. I’m on 30 fps - everything on low except character model detail on high and texture on medium. TAAU anti-aliasing.

I’m considering buying a Switch 2 cos I heard it’s better graphics. Can anyone confirm if there really is a difference?

Before anyone asks - yes I know Ps5 is optimal but I only play when travelling so handheld is preferred. And yes I know getting switch 2 is insane when I have SD. But I love BOTW/TOTK so I’d probably make use of the Nintendo library.

Gotta ask OG players

Playing for the first time because #iosversion. Obviously I love it. So hilarious and quirky but insane story.

So I HAVE to ask - for those OGs who played it… how long did it take for you to crack CPR and dolphin jump without a guide?

I had to video guide for both but it got me wondering what it was like in 1997 lol

I know this has been said a million times

But omg rebirth is overwhelming. I took 3 years to finish remake as I play slowly. Lots of things bored me (ahem sun lamps) in remake and tbh, everything is more interesting in rebirth

But wow it’s a lot. I’m on chapter 4 after 12 hours and I’m like daaaang. Every menu has a billion buttons and options

Synergy abilities sure but then the skills and they differ for every combo whaaat

AND I COME FROM FFXIV which i swear down is…less overwhelming? Maybe.

I like it but it’s a lot

Best Big Island excursions for swimming with dolphins, whales or other large marine life?

I’m coming to the Big Island in November for swimming trip - Kailua Bay, Pawai Marine Reserve, Garden Eel Cove, Mahaiʻula Bay, the Makalawena coastline, Puu Aliʻi Bay and Kealakekua Bay/Captain Cook.

I’m also going to book a manta ray night snorkel, (prob with Sea Paradise at Manta Village) as our swimming trip already visits Garden Eel Cove during the day. I’m also looking at Wild Hawaii Ocean Adventures’ Offshore Blue Water Adventure, which leaves from Honokōhau Harbor and spends four hours searching offshore for dolphins, whales, sharks and whale sharks.

Are there any other excursions or operators you’d recommend for maximising our chances of getting in the water with dolphins, whales, sharks or other large marine animals? We completely understand that sightings and swimming are never guaranteed, and that wildlife rules and the captain’s judgement come first. We’d just prefer an ocean safari where entering the water may be possible when appropriate, rather than a standard whale-watching boat trip. I also freedive but do not scuba.

Thanks!

Two weeks on the Big Island: stay in Kona or move to Volcano Village?

I’m to the Big Island for two weeks in November. I’ll spend the first week based in Kailua-Kona on a swimming trip, exploring areas including Kailua Bay, Pawai, Garden Eel Cove, Mahaiʻula, Makalawena and Kealakekua Bay.

Afterwards, I have some more activities (manta ray night snorkel + and an offshore pelagic wildlife trip), so considering staying a few more nights around Kona, possibly at the OUTRIGGER, with a day to relax and use the spa.

I’d also like to visit Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and do a Maunakea summit/stargazing tour. Is it worth moving to Volcano Village for three nights and having two full park days, or can the main volcano sights be comfortably done on day tours from Kona? Three hotels feels like a lot, so I’d love to get some itinerary feedback. Thanks.
