I really like that Denton does Halloween!

I can't remember (and I did a general search).

Are there any treats and eats thru the month that are on theme?

Hello all! Fairly new to Postcrossing - since May or June I think. I am so thrilled with the community of folks that have read my profile and include the things I love. I wish I had a huge collection of a variety of cards and stamps to just pick and pull and post that includes their likes. I'll get there one day!

Since I'm a bit new, I got my first postcard in an envelope and they included a letter. I know it's not unheard of, and I'm not upset about it at all! In fact, I am one who loves to read letters and I am a penpal-er (if that's even a word lol!). Anyway, I have penpals and I've been acquiring new friends recently. It doesn't seem like there's a request for that. In the letter, they were just sharing their story connected to the card that was one of my listed interests. I haven't registered on postcrossing just yet (recvd yesterday) and haven't seen their profile yet.

And another card that had a return address on it.

I'm not necessarily asking what rules are and whatnot and I know I can do whatever I want - and I know what I'll be doing. I'm just curious: when you get these, what do you tend to do? Reciprocate in kind? Register with a message to the sender and leave it be? Other option that you care to elaborate on?

Have a fun day!

Hi! I'm not entirely new to the zine scene. I participated, eh, dabbled, about 20 years ago. I used to have penpals contribute ... I think. I'm sure I have what I made somewhere in the archaeological confines of my bedroom closet. I'm not ready to dig again until I do the inital uncovering of things.

I was reintroduced to zines this past weekend by a friend. My immediate thought was to make a zine about me. Not as narcissitic as it seems, I promise! The intention for that one is to basically introduce myself to my penpals in a different way! I mean, that was my friend's zine as well (about her). I just adopted it for my own plans. And then subsequently, I used the format for something else for penpals (friendship books, if you're interested).

And now, my idea is back to an official(?) or traditional(? LOL!) zine. I have a topic. I already have some ideas for each page. And I also am thinking of a way to make it into a bit of a series. My thought is to use each volume as one topic for the overall theme.

Pages that think will be in each volume:
- A thought provoking essay thats informative
- A "call to action" challenge or game
- A comic, or drawing, or fun graphic
- A tutorial of some sort that aligns with the topic
- Something sentimental or personal
- Contributions from folks for future volumes

The format I'm using is the single sheet with 8 pages - a fun little foldyfold. I feel like I'm missing something to keep interest. Oh boy, I know there's not script or template or requirements. It's just "have fun." But I sure would love some ideas for page themes. My brain likes to follow rules, formatting... critical thinking is not my forte. Give me some guides and I'll crush the hell out of it in my own way.

Help a gal out? I don't necessarily want to keep each volume the exact same so I'm looking for general components that I can add to the mix.

I'll definitely share when the first is all put together of course!

I am probably going to regret this.

I paid the money (in these economic times) for a chuck roast. Made my Mississippi pot roast in the slowcooker all day on low. And a side of creamy mashed potatoes. It was delicious!

Put everything in containers to cool down before stowing in the fridge.

And woke up this morning with the leftovers right where I... left them. Over there. On the counter.

Has anyone recooked this? What happened?

Edit to add: Coincidentally or ironically, I'm watching an episode of the pioneer woman making her dang pot roast. *sigh*

My front license plate decided to just jump right off my car or a mythical Okie beast ate it.

Anyway, I've got the lovely application to replace it. Fun! It's not online at all. Gotta mail that in with payment. I'm fine with that. I can send a check. Who uses those anymore anyway?

The internet taketh but does not provide ... information about how to make the check payable. Does anyone know who to write the check to?
Don't worry, I've looked at the TX dmv.gov website and the Denton Co tax assessor website and ... no dice.
