Is multistreaming worth the trouble/risk?
I've had a Youtube channel for a long time and starting streaming this year. I also have a Twitch channel where I used to be affiliate but I haven't been active in many years (I have to check if it hasn't been deactivated). I'm considering multistreaming on both channels, mostly just to reach more people. I also had a few loyal viewers I haven't heard from in all those years, and it'd be fun to reconnect if they're even still around.
However, it seems a bit daunting to try multistreaming. I haven't looked into the technical setup in detail, so maybe it's easier than it looks, but it seems pretty complicated. I'm also kinda worried to accidentally break some rules because they're 100% clear.
Am I correct in saying that you can pretty much do whatever you want, except these two things: 1) you can't merge both chats on your viewers' end (but you can monitor both in one app), and 2) you can't actively promote the other platform on the one you're streaming to, and encourage people to switch?
To those who multistream to Youtube and Twitch: is the initial setup difficult if you're reasonably tech savvy, and what are some important things to watch out for?
