Hi, I came across an interesting study:
"Androgen levels and apoptosis in the testis during postnatal development of finasteride-treated male rat offspring"
https://journals.viamedica.pl/folia_histochemica_cytobiologica/article/view/41940
This study investigates how treating adult male rats with finasteride, impacts the reproductive health and development of their male offspring.
The authors observed reduced litter sizes and an unusual shift toward more female births among the treated group's descendants. Analysis of the male offspring revealed altered levels of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone in both the blood and testicular tissue. Furthermore, the researchers found that the natural process of germ cell apoptosis, which is vital for healthy sperm production, was disrupted during the first wave of maturation.
Ultimately, the study suggests that finasteride may act as an endocrine disruptor with transgenerational effects, potentially impairing the fertility and hormonal balance of future generations.
I would like to hear your opinions on this study. Concerns about the health of my future children are actually my biggest barrier to taking finasteride.
I would also be interested in hearing from older users who took finasteride many years ago and went on to have male children who are now adults—have you noticed any reproductive health issues in your sons?
