Made this post-punk / coldwave track fully with Suno using a custom voice built from a real recording. The brief was simple: chiming angular guitars, geometric bassline leading, motorik drums — no synthwave, no four-on-the-floor. Third or fourth gen to get there, but when it landed it sounded like a real 90s British band. Theme is the progressive erasure of a person from memory — face blurring edge by edge. Video built in Google Flow / CapCut, all effects anchored in real optical physics (retinal persistence, long exposure, emulsion fading). No glitch, no datamosh.
Just dropped my new darkwave/post-punk track Replay on YouTube — the theme is an obsessive memory loop that won't let go, the kind that replays itself whether you want it to or not.
Full AI pipeline (Suno + Gemini video), but the vocal is a real human voice cloned into Suno v5.5 — not synthetic. Curious what people think about where that line sits these days.
I've been building a dark electronic project called Vangrid, and my latest track "Undertow" (118 BPM, D minor, post-punk bass) nearly broke me on the vocal side. I needed the voice to stay dry and contained in the verses, then physically open and rasp in the chorus. Most attempts gave me uniform texture throughout. What finally clicked: anchoring the hook on sustained -ay/-ai vowels ("take me away"). That phonetic choice pulled the opening naturally — once I stopped fighting it and started writing for it, the dynamic happened almost on its own.
The other thing that cost me weeks: trying to use Suno's extend function to attach a custom intro. Server hangs, broken energy, mismatched transitions. Scrapped it entirely and went with a single full generation, intro built into the structure from the start. Less clever in theory, far cleaner in practice.
Style Influence at 80%, instrumental intro generated as a separate clip then extended. Tape mastering to warm up deliberately cold material. Full manual lyric structure with production tags.
