Dealing with tiredness during treatment + length of treatment
Last month, upon a psychiatrist's suggestion, I got my vitamin D level checked and it turned out I'm deficient; 16 ng/mL. I was actually thrilled about it, because at last I figured where my persistent fatigue has been coming from, and could start treating it. Last week, I finally got a prescription, a weekly tablet of 30,000IU. My GP prescribed it until April and that's when she recommended I get another test done.
I have two questions:
1. How can I deal with the fatigue before my vit D reaches a sufficient level? I can't add many vit D-rich products into my diet as I'm a vegetarian. I wake up tired even after 12h of sleep, I barely have the energy to do anything, and for the past months I had been dependent on caffeine and sugar to get any energy. I know it'll get better, but it doesn't change how exhausted I am, so I wonder if there's some method to dealing with the tiredness.
2. Is it an appropriate course of treatment? It is my understanding I should reach a sufficient vitamin D level in about 8 weeks. That's autumn, I won't be able to get vit D from sunlight where I live, so it makes sense to continue supplementing throughout winter, but isn't this too high of a dose to take until April, especially since the doctor didn't order me to have a test in the meantime?
Thank you in advance!
