Title: Verbal offer from GS with a possible 2027 start. Can they still back out?

Got a verbal offer from Goldman Sachs. The recruiter said the hiring could be for 2027, so the start date is a few months out. I haven’t seen anything in writing yet.

Has anyone been in a similar spot? A few questions:

  • How common is it for a verbal offer to get pulled before the written one arrives?
  • Does a delayed start date raise the risk of the offer being rescinded?
  • Is it okay to ask the recruiter for a timeline on the written offer, or does that come across as pushy?
  • Would you keep interviewing in the meantime?

Not planning to resign or turn anything else down until it’s official. Just want to hear from people who’ve been through it.

GS Senior SWE realistic comp range?

Got an interview loop going for a Senior Software Engineer role on in NYC.

what's a realistic base + bonus for someone coming in with ~10-11 YOE, currently a Senior SWE at another BB? Trying to figure out where in that band a "senior but not staff/VP" hire actually lands, and what bonus % to expect on top of base.

GM Austin offer for Senior AI engineer

I’d send something like this:

Got an offer from GM in Austin. I’m currently in the NYC area working as a VP at JPMorgan. What do you think—should I accept it, or keep interviewing? I still have several interviews in the NYC area, including a few Senior AI Engineer opportunities. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Final round not getting cleared

I’m getting a lot of interview calls, and quite a few have made it all the way to the final round, but I’m still not getting selected.

I’ve reached the final round with at least 4–5 companies so far, but no offers yet. The most recent company had three rounds: a system design round, a behavioral round, and an object-oriented/class design round. The class design round probably went about 70% well, but the other two went really well. I honestly walked away feeling confident that I’d get an offer.

What makes it even more confusing is that in a couple of those interviews, I felt I had more technical depth and experience than the interviewers themselves, so I was surprised when it didn’t work out.

At this point, I’m not sure what’s going on with the job market. It feels like I’m consistently getting very close, but just not crossing the finish line.
