I made a post on here a few days ago in search of a used iWalk, as I am uninsured and unable to work until I am able to use my hands while standing. This person reached out on Reddit, gave me their phone number, and I paid this person through Venmo. I have not heard back since Monday. I suppose it’s my fault for assuming people are good and lesson learned, but please beware of this person!!!

2 Weeks Post-Op

Finally out of the itchy cast and onto a boot! Doc says I’m healing beautifully and wants me to start walking heel-toe a few days before I see him in a month. Screws should come out in three months barring any complications. Past two weeks have been taking a toll on me mentally, but today gave me some hope of returning back to normalcy.

How long did you all wait before going back to the gym? Before my injury I was lifting 3/4 times a week along with some cardio, so I’d like to return to upper body only and maybe some light machine work with my good leg.

At a loss

Hi all.
I work in a restaurant in the US (no insurance or PTO) & cannot work because I just had surgery on Tuesday. I have barely been able to afford to take this week off, and from what I’ve been reading it will be months until I can properly do my job again (stairs, carrying things, standing 8+ hours a day).
I don’t know what to do. I don’t qualify for short term disability, I make too much for Medicaid, but still I live paycheck to paycheck and do not have much savings left after paying out of pocket for mri, X-rays, & doctors appointments.

I do not qualify for unemployment in Indiana. People in Indiana only qualify if you’ve lost your job due to lack of work, not medical incapacity. I am also not ready and able to work, which disqualifies me again. My employer does not offer short-term disability either.

I’ve put in dozens of applications, but I don’t have a degree or any certificates that would allow me to qualify for any remote work. Things are already dark with the pain & being alone all of the time, but this has just added a whole new layer on & I’m starting to think that I’d be better off dead between the amount of debt that surgery just put me in & not being able to pay rent/bills the next couple of months. I don’t know what to do anymore. Any advice or programs I could apply for would be greatly appreciated.

ISO remote/desk job post-surgery

Hello all!
I had an unfortunate accident last week that required me to have surgery on my foot. With this surgery, I cannot be weight bearing for 6-8 weeks.

I work in a restaurant that requires me to go up/down stairs (no elevator) and I cannot carry things because I’m on crutches. I considered ubering but I’m not allowed to drive for a few more weeks. I’ve been applying to remote jobs like crazy since last week but haven’t gotten any calls back. I cannot make my rent/bills as I already live paycheck to paycheck. I’m already drowning between paying for urgent care, mri, & xrays - I am desperate to work as soon as possible. If anyone knows of anyone hiring for a remote or even desk position I would really appreciate it!

Have a good weekend y’all 💛

Hello all. Had my surgery yesterday morning. Had a nerve block that wore off late last night and I started taking my hydros at 6 hour intervals along with ibuprofen. My foot feels like it’s going to explode through my cast. It’s not even that painful on the area where I got the hardware in but is extremely painful around my ankle. I’m wondering if this is normal or if it sounds like my cast is maybe too tight. I could definitely just be a baby but I’m almost in tears with the pain.

Hello all, I (25F in the US) have surgery tomorrow morning and was just given an estimate of how much my surgery will cost. I’m not sure how much this should cost, but these numbers seem very high from what I’ve been reading. Please take a look and let me know how it compares to yours. I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to pay this.

Hi all. Just got the bad news today that I need internal fixation to repair my foot. My surgeon was talking very fast and I very nervous/upset and didn’t really catch what the surgery itself was going to be like and post-op healing. I’m hoping to get some insight from you all that could be helpful or help me prepare!!! I am also uninsured so that is the biggest anxiety of all of this. Thank you 💛
