Last Dayscord

Hello visitors of r/BrianEvenson! My name is Eurydice and I'm a huge fan of Mr. Evenson's mutilation series, having read it a few years ago and have been looking for and creating fanworks in regards to this series I hold so dear to me.

Me and my girlfriend Sulfur been making fanart and fanfiction for these characters and their relationships and stumbling across similar people over the years. So in honor of Phantom Limb's official release in a few weeks, we have made a Discord server for us and other like minded readers and creators.

It is not just for the mutilation series however! Last Dayscord is a fandom focused community for anyone who enjoys Brian Evenson's works. It is a safe space for anyone who likes to create various forms of fandom contributions (such as fanart, fanfiction, ship discussions and character analysis). It is of course also open to anyone who enjoys his works not just that specific group of people! But its main goal is for nerdy and sometimes unserious discussions regarding the characters.

It is also a place where we can eventually read and discuss Phantom Limb together upon its release, as we are hosting a special event just for it!

Upon entering the server, please make sure to read the rules and act accordingly to them, and post your introduction so we can get to know you!

Thank you so so so much to the wonderful and kind moderators who approved my advertising of this server, it's something that truly means a lot to us! :")

We hope to see you there <3

Server invite!

Arson! by Cap Iversen, anyone else read it?

Hello, I didn't know what subreddit to post this to, so I thought this would be the best one to talk about it in :)

I got this book at a flea a while ago, and I could not stop thinking about it, even after 3 months, so I need to ask if there's anyone that's also read it.

Im a fan of western media, and I was very delighted to find out there are many queer westerns. I read one full series (the Northern Horizons series by A.E. Lister, also recommend) and then I found this one. The summary intrigued me so I got it and read it relatively quick.

This book made me feel a lot of things. It's about a gay cowboy hitman who gets hired by a very pretty boy to help him discover a family secret and take down the people who killed his family, and it enchanted me.

Cap Iverson is an incredible author. He managed to make this story so jaw dropping yet so strangely tender. It's a relatively slow burn romance, and the romance itself isn't the main focus, yet it still lingers. But the two eventual lovers getting to know each other made something so warm bubble up inside me.

There's one scene in particular that I think about often. Where the two characters talk about an author one of them likes, and reads the other a poem, and they have a heart to heart about their families, especially the unnaccepting one of the boy who hired the gunman, and afterward they share a kiss. It was a very beautiful scene that even now I tear up just writing about it :")

Despite being a lesbian myself, I saw a vivid picture of me and my girlfriend in this book and the two characters and in their feelings toward the same gender.

I love that this book is unapologetically gay, and not shy to make it known. There's no sugar coating it and I appreciate that in a queer book.

Its also a part of a series, but I had to order the second and third books and am waiting for them to arrive </3 maybe I'll update when I do read them...

I just wanted to share my thoughts and also ask if anyone else has read it? Because when I look through anything it gives me no results of discussions about it. Maybe Cap Iversen is that niche and I got lucky enough to come across this book lol
