Not surprising at all...What DOES surprise me are the people who continue to go for leisure and not out of necessity (even then, I would do everything I could to not go).
I know GTL just covered this, but I was wondering if anyone knows/seen video footage of this moment that got only a small paragraph in this CBC article:
"As Carney stepped up to deliver his address, someone began a "U.S.A." chant. Others in the room booed in response."
I feel like this should have gotten some sort of general reaction, but maybe we're all just too tired to care at this point lol

The expert they interviewed basically said we’re cooked….

I am really sick and tired of Carney conceding to the US over tariff threats. Any attempt to make a statement on how the initial tariffs and annexe threats is lost simply because we were threatened with retaliation to our retaliation…
Are we even a sovereign country? These “negotiations” are a joke, it could be summed up to the US dictating the terms, and we have to “take it”or suffer even more. Pretty soon after this, taco tuesday will want us to concede something else! It will never end, there is no winning here!
When you are unionized and are on strike with your employer, you don’t simply concede all negotiations because they threaten or implement a lockout. You endure, you continue to apply pressure and expose your employer’s weak arguments. With enough time, a real deal will present itself.
Idk if that makes any sense, what do you think? Should Carney concede and have all the provinces put the booze back on the shelves? I know that I won’t ever touch the stuff, that’s for certain.

Montreal definitely made the right decision. Imagine cancelling all those other events, the city would have lost so much money.
Not shocked at all, but it goes to show that these FIFA events only benefit the ultra wealthy, while us peasants who can’t afford to stay within the area (even if we aren’t going to the event)!
Why must the public pay for this??? The ticket money should fund the whole thing but instead they’re hoarding all the profits.
Why are they allowed to do this?? Where is our government? They’re aparently fine with this??
