Character Tier list SO FAR for C4

I should probably wait until the employment table's first "arc" is over, but fuck it, we ball. I will give a tier and a tiny explanation of placement + a tier of roleplay + mechanics.

S tier: Wic, Bolaire, and Azune

Wic: I think this is pretty obvious. Sam has single-handedly created the most interesting antagonist faction in the Halovar and an entire religion that’s interesting and rich in lore. Wick himself is hilarious and mechanically sound (not optimised, but Sam is a great player) + his roleplay is amazing.

  • Wic: S+-tier roleplay, S-tier mechanics (doing amazing with some very roleplay-heavy spells).

Bolaire: Always trust Taliesin to create a unique and interesting character. He’s already S-tier, even though I believe his main parts will be in the late game. Amazing roleplay and, again, solid mechanically at doing what his class does (which we don't know yet, lol) but command is just op.

  • Bolaire: S+ tier roleplay, B-tier mechanics.

Azune: I have never watched other D&D content other than Critical Role, and everyone was super excited about Luis, and I can see why. Azune is an amazing character and I can’t wait to see more and i mean cmon potential 25 AC? + he will probs get mirror image bros gonna be a beast, meta magic bonus action booming blade? Like, guys be like Luis, read ur Handbook. U can be a "min maxer" (without being obnoxious and bending rules) and still play for the roleplay.

  • Azune: S+ roleplay and S+ tier mechanics (probably the most optimized so far).

A Tier: Thimble, Julian, and Kattigan

Kattigan: I feel like this is the most unexpected placement, but the leveling up scene and the end of the Soldier arc REALLY, REALLY sold me. I fucking loved it and I can’t wait to see more + I respect a man playing Ranger (dogshit class) in a world that isn't level-scaled.

  • Kattigan: S tier roleplay, B-tier mechanics (I blame this on the Ranger class, though he’s doing great with what he has).

Julian: I mean, you always knew Matt was going to deliver an interesting character i wish he was more of a prick tbh.Matt could never make a bad PC.

  • A-tier roleplay (so far), B-tier mechanics.

Thimble: Again, super solid all-around from Laura, and she is lowkey single-handedly carrying the Soldiers table. Weapon Mastery + Rogue in 2024 is brutal; it’s way easier to get those sneak attacks, and the Swashbuckler’s ability to avoid opportunity attacks and have flight is soooo good. I am here for the Thimble revenge arc.

  • A-tier roleplay, A-tier mechanics.

B Tier: Teor, Tyranny, Halandil, Murray

B-tier is basically the A/S tier waiting room (besides Murray, maybe). I know for a FACT that Hal, Theor, and Tyranny will climb these ranks; their plot points are WAY too interesting. All three have had amazing roleplay moments, and Theor, Hal, and Murray are all super good mechanically. Honestly, Murray could get the bump to A-tier right now just for the Potent dice shenanigans (if you know, you know), but I find her the least interesting of the other three.

  • Teor: B-tier mechanics (so far), B-tier roleplay (so far).
  • Tyranny: C-tier mechanics, A-tier roleplay.
  • Halandil: B-tier roleplay (I know Liam is slow-burning right now; I can't wait) and B-tier mechanics.
  • Murray: C-tier roleplay, A-tier mechanics (with a very non-optimized Wizard, which is an intentional choice; she’s playing AMAZING).

C Tier: Vaelus, Thaisha, and Occtis

Time for some controversy again, ladies and gentlemen; this is ALL personal opinion. No hate is being sent towards the players.

Vaelus: Again, Ashley just struggling to play D&D after what, like 5 years of playing it? She doesn't understand her class at all; she’s constantly attacking at disadvantage even though her class (Oath of Vengeance Paladin) is about attacking at advantage (vow of emity) with Hunter's Mark. Roleplay-wise, she has been pretty whatever, which kinda sucks cause her character thematically is AWESOME. I don't mind someone being bad at dnd, look at tryanny but is honestly impressive at this point that Ashley still can't play DND ( i love u ashley).

  • Vaelus F-tier mechanics, B roleplay.

Occtis: idk why I don't like Occtis. I love necromancers/summoners, but it’s just not hitting with me. They treat Occtis like he’s 12 even though he’s like 20+. His house is cool, but yeah, idk, I can't put it into words—nothing really stands out to me. His undead servant spell is super OP, though, Occtis being undead is way less interesting then i thought it would be.

  • C-tier roleplay, C-tier mechanics.

Thaisha: Again, cool character, but I am basically putting her down here because she just needs to stop talking sometimes and let other characters do their thing. Too much above-table "banter" and cutting into character moments. The Lloy family is cool but we need to find out more; I also find it quite annoying her trying to force tension in the group. It’s kinda ruining the Seekers for me, which sucks cause I was so excited to watch Matt play.

  • C-tier roleplay, B-tier mechanics.
