Start spooky season with a modern classic.

Movie Night returns tonight at 5:30 pm with Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending MEMENTO, one of the most acclaimed and unforgettable psychological thrillers of the past 25 years.

Leonard is hunting for the man who murdered his wife—but there’s a problem: he can’t form new memories. Armed with Polaroids, handwritten notes, and tattoos, he tries to piece together the truth before it disappears again.

Dark, twisty, ingenious, and told in a way that completely messes with your sense of time, Memento is the kind of movie that practically demands a conversation afterward.

Kick off October with a movie that will keep you guessing until the very end.

For any fellow art/history/documentary lovers around Olympia/Lacey: we're showing Caravaggio: The Soul and the Blood at the Lacey Timberland Library tomorrow (Friday, September 18) at 2 pm as part of our monthly Painted Screen art film series.

It's a 90-minute documentary filmed in 4K that gets incredibly close to Caravaggio's paintings while exploring his rather wild life—brawls, murder, exile and all. The film also has some unusual short, stylized dramatic sequences mixed in with the documentary footage, so it's definitely not your standard talking-head art documentary.

We'll have light refreshments and a casual optional discussion afterward. Free, no registration required.

If you've ever wanted to see Caravaggio's paintings close enough to practically inspect the brushstrokes, this should be a fun one.

A message from Hallie:

“Hi, friends! It’s Hallie. I’ll be at the Lacey Library TODAY at 2 PM, and I would really, really like some people to come visit me. (I love being around people.)

Bring a favorite story, poem, memory, joke, or just yourself! My human friends and I will spend some time reading, sharing stories, chatting, having tea & cookies, and enjoying each other’s company.

And, most importantly, I’ll be there for pets, cuddles, and general moral support.

I hope you’ll come spend the afternoon with me!”
