After having some fun with the Canada gold reserves chart, the comments sent me down another rabbit hole: who actually owns Canada’s gold production?
It turns out, except in a few situations, there’s no single owner.

So we can identify the companies that own the mines, and some of their major shareholders. Following that ownership all the way to the people behind every share is much harder.

This chart is a “good enough to explore” snapshot, with disclosure dates, sources and asterisks where the information needs qualification.
