I'll be in the San Juans backcountry on a fishing/climbing trip with a group this summer, but I'm not really interested in either. I just enjoy being in the backcountry. So during that time while others are out, I plan to keep up my marathon training with daily trail runs (5mi to 15 mi).
I'll need something to carry my gear/fuel, but I've never worn a vest or running belt. In fact, I'm pretty minimal and don't run with a phone or headphones, just gels on road runs.
From researching past posts, there seems to be a divide between vest and belts. Vest have more capacity, but trap heat, rub shoulders. Belts are minimal, potentially less bounce, but can be uncomfortable.
My friend can bring his Salomon Adv Skin 12, but I won't be able to try it before the trip. The Naked and Raide seem to be favorites on the belt side.
So what would you recommend for a road runner with no vest/belt experience? Buy a Naked/Raide belt now or risk it with the Adv Skin day of the trip?
I plan to carry:
Note: I can squeeze some of these things in my Janji half tights.
