For attending OB/GYNs: How is life going? Was the path worth it?
I'm considering pursuing OB/GYN and would be grateful to hear from those of you who are already practicing.
Specifically, I'd love to hear about:
· How your day-to-day life looks now (hours, call, predictability).
· Whether you feel you have enough time for family, vacations, and life outside medicine.
· The financial reality: are you satisfied with your income given the workload?
· How the training years were for you (residency, any fellowships) and whether you'd do it again.
· If you have a spouse and children, how you've navigated that alongside the career.
· Whether the work itself stays interesting and fulfilling over time, or if burnout is a major issue.
· Any regrets? Anything you wish you'd known when you were choosing your specialty?
I'm not looking for a sugarcoated answer—just honest perspectives from people who've lived it. Thank you.
