Personal finance tracker. Looking for 12 closed testers! 📊

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on an Android app called MyFinTracker. I was frustrated by finance apps that require mandatory accounts, force cloud syncing, or lock basic features behind expensive subscriptions, so I decided to build my own.

MyFinTracker is an offline-first money manager designed for simplicity and privacy. All your financial data stays locally on your device.

Here is what it can do:

  • Track everything: Log daily income/expenses and manage multiple accounts (Cash, Bank, Credit Cards) with transfer support.
  • Smart Budgets: Set overall monthly limits or assign budgets to specific categories (with visual progress bars).
  • Visual Analytics: Clean, easy-to-read charts to spot where your money goes.
  • Export & Backup: Generate formatted PDF reports or raw CSV spreadsheets directly to your local storage. You can also create complete JSON backups to move your data to a new phone.
  • Privacy First: 100% offline. You can also secure the app with a 4-digit PIN lock.
  • Customizable: Light/Dark/System modes and 4 custom color themes (Ocean, Forest, Sunset, Slate).

Transparency on Monetization: The app gives you all of these features completely for free. There are no subscriptions, no paywalls, and no annoying full-screen video pop-ups. It is supported solely by a single, non-intrusive banner ad at the very bottom of the screen.

I need your help! As a new developer, Google Play requires me to have 20 opt-in testers for 14 days before I can publish the app publicly. I would absolutely love it if you could test it out and let me know what you think, if you find any bugs, or if there are features you’d like to see!

How to join the test:

  1. Join the Google Group here: https://groups.google.com/g/myfintracker-testing
  2. Opt-in via Web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.neeraj.myfintracker
  3. Download on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neeraj.myfintracker

Feel free to drop any feedback, UI suggestions, or bug reports right here in the comments or message me directly.

Thanks so much for the support!

Need advice on mobile game ads! I'm closed testing a retro Snake game and want feedback on my monetization choices.

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m a solo developer currently running a closed test for my modern retro-style Classic Snake II game for Android. It features customizable themes, haptic feedback, a smooth input queue, and offline play.

Since I'm wrapping my head around mobile monetization, I wanted to ask this community for some honest feedback on how I’m handling ads, and I'd love your thoughts on a potential change.

Current Setup:

  • No banner ads during active gameplay.
  • Game Over / Play Again: When you crash, tapping "Play Again" triggers a short 5-second interstitial ad.
  • Revive Option: Players can choose to watch a rewarded ad to revive and keep their high score going (or get a free revive if they're offline).

The Dilemma / Idea for Change: I'm debating whether to completely remove the Interstitial ad on "Play Again" to make the game feel much cleaner, reduce friction, and boost long-term player retention.

However, since I still need to support development, I'm wondering:

  1. If I drop the Play Again ad, should I introduce a top banner ad during gameplay to compensate for the lost revenue? Or do banners completely ruin the clean retro look?
  2. How frustrating do you personally find interstitials on death versus having a persistent banner at the top/bottom?

I’d love to hear what works best in your experience either as players or fellow indie devs. Thanks so much for your time and insights!
