When to convert to dividend (high yield) producing stocks?
Has anyone converted their portfolio from growth to maximising dividend yields?
Eventually (if ever) your portfolio is large enough where a 4 - 6% dividend yield can sustain a minimum lifestyle then is there a benefit in reorganising a portfolio to target dividend yield? Or instead, would you just slowly sell off your portfolio and use the money to spend?
I would also suppose if you wanted to sell your portfolio and invest in yield generating stocks, the lump sell would trigger high capital gains and incur large tax?
I wanted to know when is the right time to target yield generating stocks or is it better to keep your money in growth targeted areas?
