The Oakenwrought Shadow 🖤✒️

Some woods accept a master easily; White Oak demands to be earned. This piece possesses a natural, stubborn rigidity—an unyielding resilience that refuses to bend or compromise under pressure. To match that internal strength, its exterior was bound to a shadow, using a precise ebonizing process where the wood's own natural tannins reacted with iron to lock a deep, permanent black directly into the grain.

At its heart lies a core of Dark Hippogriff Feather. Like the creature it came from, this wand is fiercely proud and intensely loyal, demanding absolute respect and unwavering focus from whoever wields it. It is an instrument that does not tolerate hesitation.

The form balances a hand-shaped, jewel-faceted handle that tapers into a smooth, clean blade, separated only by two thin transition grooves. A small, subtle thumb rest is shaped directly into the grip, allowing for a natural, comfortable hold that balances perfectly in the hand.
A stark instrument finished with patience, forged for unwavering purpose and quiet focus.

The Violet Solstice 🟣✨

I’ve been on here for a little while now and this is my first time actually posting. I’ve been incredibly shy about my work, but criticism is always welcome. I’ve always admired wands but I didn’t get into wand making until earlier this year and I’ve gone full on learning from so many people here and other outlets, and I figured I’d finally share one of the many pieces I’ve created. More to come for sure!

I may come up with some lore in the future, but for now, here’s just a little from the journey of making this piece:

This was my first time working with Purpleheart, and it didn’t give anything away for free. It didn’t exactly fight me, but this wood made me earn every single line.

Every line - every groove, from the grip to the fluid spiral was a lesson in patience, and by the time I had finished carving and sanding, the wood looked as though it had lost its spirit—fading into a pale, washed-out purple that looked almost exhausted.

To breathe new life back into this piece, I used a thermal treatment and sealed it with wax, ultimately resulting in what you see before you - a violet far deeper than the raw stock I started with. Holding it now, it feels powerful yet reserved with an elegance that is destined for purpose.

Holly Cigar Pen

Disclaimer: I did not turn this pen and all credit should go to u/LordNicky235 here in this sub. He is the owner/operator of Pikes Peak Pens on Etsy. I made sure he was okay with me sharing his name and work on this custom piece.

I came across a listing on Etsy as I’d recently grown to enjoy turned pens, and while I do some minor woodworking, my lathe isn’t setup yet, and well, I wanted one now-ish (I’m sure some of you can relate at one point or another lol). I thoroughly enjoy his designs, but wanted something a little unique. I messaged him and asked if he would combine two of his designs into one, which he gladly obliged. While awaiting materials, since I wanted Holly and all black hardware, I asked if he would mind if I drew something up and provided a design for him to turn, which he agreed again, and this is the result of that.

I sketched it up on my iPad (original concept is the last photo), and sent it to him, and he was able to execute the design perfectly. I could not be happier and I can’t put it down. He even made two of them, the sister pen also listed in his shop, in addition to the original concept design so I had options. In the end, I chose my design as I could only buy one, and I’m beyond pleased. Really just wanted to share. Hope you enjoy!
