Forgetting things - any tips?

Hi,

I have a hard time remembering things ever since I got Graves. It's affecting me a lot, especially since remembering names and what I was supposed to do is difficult. But even planning things and sometimes speaking is difficult and my mind gets all jumbled up. I saw some earlier posts and recommendations of eating healthy fats and making sure you don't have any other deficiencies. I feel like I do all of that except I haven't checked my B12. I'm currently on methimazole and my levels are okay ish but I'm on the waitlist for a TT. Meanwhile I was wondering if anyone has any tips how to deal with this? Thanks in advance!

Is TT worth it as first line therapy?

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Graves this spring and have been on Methimazole for 6 weeks. The blood work shows gradual improvement. I do feel better in many ways, but the muscle weakness persists and I have also developed PMS which seems to have been triggered by Graves. It seems to me that I also have fluctuating hyper and hypo symptoms, although T3 and T4 have normalised.

I have read up on the relapse risk, and how that correlates with TRAb levels. To my understanding, most patients that have been treated with Methimazole do get a relapse. The thought of ever having to go through the hyperthyroid phase again seems unbearable. It also seems most people describe feeling better than ever and "normal" after their TT. I am worried about the potential for complications with TT but understand the risk is low.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it getting a TT right away, if you would most likely get a relapse anyway. It also worries me that I'll never feel normal the way people describe feeling after TT, even if all values would normalise on Methimazole. But is there any scientific explanation to this?

Maybe similar questions have been asked before, although I couldn't find any threads. I'd be happy to hear about any thoughts or experiences regarding this. Did you first do Methimazole and proceed to TT after several months or years? Do you regret not doing it sooner? Or did you have a TT and regret it? Did TT really help in a way Methimazole didn't?
