How much variation can you realistically expect from essential oil suppliers?
One supplier might be based on an organic farm in CA, and must adhere to CA's minimum wage laws, safety laws, etc.
Another supplier might be based in India, where wages are radically lower, and there are fewer compliance costs.
Is it unreasonable to think that the Indian supplier, due to lower operating costs, could sell EOs for less than the supplier in California? How much of a price reduction can you expect before fraud and counterfeit seem likely?
I'm going to get yelled at for starting "another" thread on essential oil suppliers. But the archived ones are old, very messy, and promote a lot of EU sellers.
I'm looking for legitimate suppliers who:
- Can sell and ship to US customers without extra fees, tariffs, etc.
- Do not sell anything counterfeit (think rose essential oil 10ml for $10, strawberry EO, etc.)
I'm specifically interested in vetting lower cost brands (like Plant Guru, Gya Labs, or other brands on Amazon, etc). Does anyone have reason to believe their products are legitimate or the opposite?
Just looking to put together a clean list of EO sellers that check out for authenticity, that's all.
I'm really disappointed in the bergapten free bergamot essential oil I bought. The complexity, and especially that strange hint of spiciness in regular bergamot, is lacking.
Does anyone know of a good BF bergamot EO that is as good as regular?
Also, bergamot EO is used in a huge percentage of perfumes. Are makers using BF? Is there a safe limit (where it's not phototoxic) for use of the regular EO?
Isn't coumarin supposed to be strong/tenacious? My natural-source crystals don't smell at all in crystal form, and smell weak even dissolved. Is it because it's natural and not synthetic?
