Karaikudi Places to Visit!

Hi, we are doing a daytrip from trichy to Pillayarpatti temple & Karaikudi.
I would like to visit the palaces and chettinad mansions here. But i saw that we're not allowed to enter Kanadukathan Palace. Is there any other options to enter especially historical places?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Travelling to trichy with elderly

Hi! Hello!

I'm a Malaysian, planning a trip to Trichy, Madurai and Thanjavur in Aug. My husband and I are taking my mother and grandmother along for this trip.

A bit of backstory, my grandmother loves Tamil Nadu, the people and the temples. She used to go yearly once for prayers/pilgrimage when she was younger. Now she's quite old nearing 80's and has early onset of dementia. My first trip to south india was also with her when I was a teenager. Now I want to take her there to create some memories (for her and myself) before she completes forgets that part abt herself.

Total 7 days trip:

Day 1 land in Trichy. Visit Rockfort temple, Samayapuram temple. Rest, chill.
Day 2 Thanjavur - Gangaikonda cholapuram, Brihadeeswarar temple
Thanjavur royal palace
Day 3 Madurai > Pazhamudircholar temple
Day 4 Madurai - Meenachi amman temple, free and easy. need to hunt for jigarthanda
Day 5 Karaikudi - Pillayarpatti temple, chettinad mansion, Kanadukathan Palace, food hunting
Day 6 - free and easy
Day 7 - back to trichy , shopping etc, Flying back to Kuala Lumpur at night

PS:
I want to keep the trip chill and easy and not pack too many places to visit in 1 day, since both my Pati and mum will need rest time in between, afternoon naps etc. While places like Rockfort temple that would require a lot of walking/climbing, ill probably go with my husband alone and let my mum rest with grandmother.

I've been to Trichy and Madurai before but a long time back, almost 12 years ago. Thanjavur I'm returning after 20 years. I am really excited to see how much as changed. As for my husband, its his first time to this side of Tamil nadu. We both love history, temples, indian architexture and food.

Any food/shopping/temple or itinerary suggestions are welcome.
Thank you in advance!
