i rmbed i was excited to finally start manual driving lessons, fumbled while finding private instructors and finally found a responsive one. i passed both btt and ftt and simulator, so i was taking lessons with this pdi (let’s call him LYK). it started out ok, got insulted and called out for being “old and stupid” (fyi i’m 95 baby) and i just laughed it off cos, well, lots of my friends in sg say the pdi uncles are grumpy etc so i felt that its normal.

he continued to laugh, mock, insult me throughout my lessons, and he screams frequently and unnecessarily too, and the enclosed space in the car doesn’t help at all. after 60+ lessons, i got really tired and pushed for tp test, and i finally went online to check thru his credentials, and to my surprise(or maybe unsurprisingly), there were a few threads that warned ppl about him and his teaching methods too; including not teaching the right ways and wasting the learners’ time. after connecting the dots, i do recall many times that he doesn’t respond to my questions properly/vaguely, and proceed to laugh and mock me or just plain staring at me, waiting for me to answer myself as if im an expert driver.

i confirmed my thoughts that i should end my lessons with him last week; when one time after circuit training, after driving out of CDC, i stopped the car as usual outside the gate and was using my phone to quickly make payment. all of a sudden, he was shouting and screaming at me “TRAFFIC POLICE IN FRONT YOU CANNOT SEE?? CANNOT SEE?? FASTER FATSER FASTER FASTER” on and on again screaming at me. i, for one, of course did not see the police, i thought it was ok to stop since we are both still in the car too, he did not mention at all we can’t. he directed me to turn into a carpark at the right beside the coffeeshop, while still screaming at me, but it was 7pm peak hour so there were lots of cars passing by, i had to stop and wait and couldn’t turn, but he just kept screaming at me to “TURN TURN TURN TURN”. it’s just plain ridiculous.

i didn’t pass my first TP test, and many errors were easily prevented if LYK just explained to me nicely and clearly without mocking or staring at me through the lessons. and he totally missed out telling me to hold the steering wheel with BOTH hands after jamming the brake, so that cost me some points too.

i do admit that i’m slow in learning and i tried to ask to practise a few more times in many lessons, but he just continued with his own pacing and verbal abuses at me.

the intention of this post is to let ppl know that there’s such a PDI around in CDC, so if you do find an uncle whose name abbreviations sounds startlingly similar to LYK, please check with me if it’s really him.
