Best CC combo for car down payment?
Hi all, thinking of getting a car.
Down payment: 70k
Dealer allows 17k to be paid by CC without processing fees.
What's the best CC combo (purely Cashback, purely miles, or a mixture of both?) that includes the MCC 5511.

Appeal for witness dashcam. 18 Aug 2026, approx 8-830am. CTE near the ERP gantry.
My brother was on the way to office, riding his motorcycle and got rear end by this car, the driver was waiting in the queue to exit via PIE to Changi. But the queue was very long, she suddenly decided to accelerate and cut chevron to cross to upp Serangoon to exit. He was thrown forward into the air and landed pretty badly with bruises to his chest and abrasion everywhere. My brother’s foot is severely fractured. Bone smashed and nerves severed, he’s in the operating room for amputation now, he may have to spend a long time learning how to walk. Please contact me at brendalohej@gmail.com if you have dashcam footage. Thank you.
[Running Red Light] Should I report?
Was at Toh Tuck Avenue at 1810hrs. The black car just literally cut into my lane and speed off despite the red light.
I honestly would have closed an eye if he barely ran the red light, but this is just blatantly putting himself and others in danger.
Should I report? I see that I have to testify in court if it escalates. Seeking for your advices 🙏🏻
Has anyone had to sell a car they loved for whatever reason - financial / practical / “upgrade” that didn’t impress
reddit.comAnyone else realize that there are now a lot of drivers watching videos while driving?
The situation is getting out of control.
Every morning when I'm stuck behind a slow reacting car (3-5 second lag after the car in front move), it's almost always because the driver was watching some video on his/her mobile phone.
This group of drivers is a major contributor to the morning peak hour jams which have been getting worse. Like come on, just pay attention to the road, get to the destination safer and faster, then continue watching whatever video lah!
It's so annoying to be stuck behind one, seeing only 1-3 cars crossing the junction on green (usual 5-6 cars) because the video-watching driver reacted slow and missed the light.
People that used PPF, gloss/matte, what’s the maintenance like?
Hi for those that applied PPF please give your experience
Both gloss / matte
Maintenance: polishing? Or will that damage the wrap? I’ve seen many contradicting answers.
Wear & tear?
How’s the visibility of scratches, damages from gloss vs matte perspectives?
What are some “how to care” for the wrap tips you can give me?
Thank you again!
Not all BMWs but always a BMW
Apologies for the out of focus video but my car dashcam should have a clearer view of his plate - SMS9524S from a screenshot.
Impatient driver turns right in a left turn lane from Bayfront Ave onto Park St before proceeding to Marine One carpark. Definitely not his first time as he sped off pretty quickly.
Black out package for Audi Q3
I’m planning to get a black out package for my Audi Q3. By black out package, I mean change the logo and the window trimmings to black. Dealer (Premium Auto) doesn’t have it. Any reputable workshops to recommend? If you did it before, can share cost? Thanks in advance!
Looking for 2nd hand PARF car with 1-2 years COE left. Would love your opinions
Hi all! Planning to get a second hand auto PARF car with 1-2 years COE left. Might or might not renew after COE is up.
Some info about me:
- Budget of $30,000
- Single so I don’t need a big car.
99% of the time it will only be me driving, a passenger once in awhile. So I only care about boot space.
- Cross into JB 2–3x a month
- Drive to KL maybe 2-3x a year
- Drove family’s Honda Jazz for 5 years so I'm used to low maintenance Japan car and would only want to go for a Japan car
- Not fuzzy about design, interior, pick up speed etc. Very point A to B person.
Priority is for the car to be reliable and not having high maintenance and many potential problems.
Trying to also avoid popular PHV models as I don’t want to accidentally purchase one.
So far, after filtering based on my requirements on sg carmart, I am looking at:
- Mazda (not sure which model yet, are there any particular ones I should avoid?)
- Honda Grace Hybrid
Would love to hear your opinions and experience on the shortlisted cars I have in mind. Thanks!
Car hit by a lorry in a jam slip road
I’m writing here to share my experience and trauma process the accident.
I was driving from Sims Ave, turning left to KPE, slip road already jam, so I followed the car in front of me, the usual drive, brake, drive brake. After the merge road when I was 10 meters into the KPE, I was hit pretty hard from behind.
My heart dropped. And I was shaking rightaway
I turned on the hazard light, move the car slowlt to the road shoulder and called my husband.
My husband calmly asked me to take videos on both vehicles and asked for IC and not to engage to any conversation.
I stepped out from my car and saw it was a small lorry. The driver was a foreign worker. I kinda felt bad coz he would be definitely in trouble with his employer.
I asked him to move his car to the road shoulder coz he was literally blocking the only lane there was to enter the KPE. (Maybe he was in shock too)
He then approached me and said “sorry sister.” I didn’t answer but asked him gently, can I have your IC? He showed me his singpass IC, I took photo. i also exchanged number with him.
I took video of both cars, the KPE, anything really.
Then I called 999.
I said, I’m in a slip road from Sims avenue but already almost in KPE technically. A lorry hit the behind of my car. Both cars are damaged but nobody was injured. Police said any facility got damaged? I said no.
He asked me to document everything, asked for IC and contacted my insurance.
I asked, what happened then? I can leave? He said yes.
I told the driver I would leave.
He said, “can settle private?” To which I replied “I will contact my insurance.”
Then I walked back to my car, already late to pick up my kid from childcare… Sigh.
After I read things online I realized that the insurance still could drop my NCD for this claim.
I just feel very unfair…
I’ve been driving so safely, never kena demerit points, my drivers license is so precious cause it was so hard to get…
And now I literally did nothing, just queuing into the KPE, not even 30kmh, and suddenly got hit.
Super sigh…
Like, you car can literally be parked and still get hit…
Just want to write it here… i’ve been lurking in this sub and read other people’s experiences, always telling myself to watch out and defense driving.
And yet still kena hit…
Vents out. Kthxbye.
Do you slow down at slip road? For example, from PIE (80km/h) to BKE (90km/h) there is this slip road with speed limit of 50km/h. Saw this morning even a traffic police motorcycle above speed limit.
Another example is BKE to KJE slip road, speed limit is 50km/h but all cars at least 60-70km/h. Yes rules are rules but is it practical? What is your thought?
Disclaimer: Recently kena letter at another slip road above speed limit ...
Which workshops in Singapore should we avoid? 🚩
We always see people recommending good workshops, but I'm curious about the other side.
Have you ever had a really bad experience with a workshop in Singapore? Overcharging, unnecessary repairs, poor workmanship, damaged parts, bad service, or anything else?
Share the workshop and what happened. Would be useful to know which places to be careful with.
Mods, if this post breaks any subreddit rules or isn't appropriate, please feel free to remove it. Just looking to hear about people's personal experiences.
Car Leasing or Pre-owned
With the current COE prices hiking which indirectly affect second hand cars prices as well. Is owning a car a better option or going for car leasing would be better in this current economy.
Background: I always aspire to own a vehicle of my own since young, but seeing COE prices increasing year to year, it becomes impractical anymore. First thought, I am thinking of purchasing second hand cars left with 2yrs+ COE, just to feel I’ve achieved something i always wanted. While there are markets for car leasing to lease a car for like 1-2years, but of course you pay slightly higher monthly fees while not worrying about costs on insurance/maintenance/servicing. I’m conflicted to which is a better option for the current market situation.
Any thoughts?

asiaone.comNeed advice on AAS report
I’m buying a used car for short term drive (~6 months till end COE; do not plan to renew). Car is registered in 2017. Would like to seek technical advice on whether anything worth noting from the AAS PPI report and whether ok to proceed?
I do not expect perfect condition, but would like to avoid hefty repair cost for such short term ride.
Thanks in advance!
Traffic Police Sniper ?
Anyone can advice if anyone got caught for speeding here ? Saw police logo on waze but can’t seem to find the police 😂
Should I report this denza
Usually I wouldnt bother because I see it happening too often, but this time it was quite egregious. The kids crossing and waving to me also made me realise this increasingly common practice of speeding just to beat a red light is a disaster waiting to happen.
Saw a car hitting another car while doing parallel parking
I saw a driver bump into the back of another car while trying to park in a parallel lot.
I told him that he had hit the car in front, but he said he did not notice it. When I helped inspect the other car, I noticed a crack on its rear licence plate.
However, he insisted that his car could not have
caused the damage because he was moving forward into the lot.
He also defended himself by saying that there was no visible damage on his own car. I do not have video proof that he caused the crack, but I remember hearing a cracking sound while he was positioning his car.
Should I try to find the owner of the other car, or should I let it go since it is not really my business? I am also worried that if the owner checks their dashcam footage, they may see me standing there and assume that I was the one who caused the damage, since I was helping the driver check where he had hit.
