How dangerous is riding in Singapore?

Hi fellow drivers and riders, I (20M) just got my Class 2B licence. I don't have a Class 3 licence or much real road experience outside of riding school.

I'm thinking of getting a bike, but I've heard so many stories about how dangerous riding in Singapore is because of other drivers. It's honestly making me second guess whether I should start riding.

To the more experienced riders here, what's it actually like? Is it as bad as people make it out to be?

I'm mainly nervous because I don't know what to expect from other road users, especially during my first few months. Any advice on how to ride defensively or habits I should build from day one? I'd really appreciate any tips or experiences you can share.

Edit: Also what is the best non peak hour time to ride for the first time on Thursday? (Preferbly night)

Uncle rushing to where?

Whole road was clear and I decided to turn right since still green arrow. But when I filter to right lane, saw one e bicycle suddenly cross the road. I definitely still can turn right since the arrow haven't turn orange, I only slowed down because I saw the bicycle.

Why is he rushing? Is it very difficult to wait 15 more seconds?

Going on Exchange in January 27, want to drive

Never really wanted to learn driving in Singapore, IMO our public transport system is great. But will need to do so in jan next year.

Signed up for BBDC, but my timeline is quite tight.

Any one currently learning also, got tips to speed things up?

Any tips to pass TP test and any good habits to build?

Just finished my 2nd Manual Private Lesson and was wondering what good habits I should build as I’m learning how to drive. I guess it also translates to what good habits I should build in order to minimise the demerit points I’ll get during the test.

Also I have no idea how the TP test will be like or what it even entails so I was wondering if I could get tips or explanations.. thank you!

Private learner PDI cost

Hey everyone, just wanted to get a sensing of what's the average price for PDI @ CDC. I just got quoted about $180 SGD for 1.5 hours for non-peak with $345 enrolment fee. It sounds a bit steep imo, so just wanted to know what's the fair market rate now.

New learner driver here - blind spot check during lane changes

My current understanding is:
Rear-view mirror
Side mirror
Signal
Blind spot
Eyes back to the road ahead
Steer gently into the next lane

My questions are:
After looking back to the road ahead, do you immediately start steering, or do you glance at the side mirror again before moving?

Not sure if my sequence would consider immediate failure in tp test 🥹

Motorcycle OBU app to show same alerts as car OBU dash

Is it possible and if so, how to make the motorcycle erp app to show the same alerts as the car OBU screen? I drive and ride, and I find the car OBU alerts useful. However the OBU on the motorcycle has no screen and only can see information on the ERP app on my phone. Even then the blue erp app on the phone do not show alerts for red light/speed camera or traffic police zones. Is it possible and if so how do I turn on these alerts on the blue ERP app?

Petrol Companies shooting themselves in the foot

Well done Petrol Cartel Companies for their recent usual shenanigans of price hiking, except now they don't monopolise the market anymore.

Wrong to get upset at taxi driver that drove off mere inches away from my preschooler?

Am I in the wrong to get upset when a taxi that's parked next to me decides to drive off to park at another lot to continue waiting the moment my preschooler tried to get into my car? Wife and toddler was behind my preschooler. I was in the driver's seat and could only watch helplessly as my preschooler held on to the open door while the taxi moved off a few inches next to him.

For context was picking up kids from school and had parked in the middle of 3 open lots. Came back to see a taxi driver parked next to me. Taxi engine was running and headlights were on. Did not signal nor give us any indication he was moving off. Taxi drove off against traffic to park at another lot. Wife and 2 kids could not enter from driver side as we had isofix childseats in the way.

Went down to speak to him and was told that he had ensured that it was very safe despite the fact that my 2 sons and wife was literally inches next to him. Typical 60-70 plus Chinese taxi driver.

Appealing for Witnesses at Simon Road 2/7/2026 9pm-12mn

My nmax v2 was apparently knocked over by another rider and his/her bike. They left a legibly written note until it came to the contact number part and it was a scribble. I suspect as it was outside OFFSHORE so quite a few witness the rider just wrote something to put on my bike. Appealing if anyone saw the bike plate number or have any footage will be greatly appreciated. I have tried contacting possible number combinations but to no avail.

Funny motorcyclist. Makes mistake but decides to road rage

This guy only back off after I pointed to my car cam. I am a cautious driver and have a clean driving record for over 10 years. This guy tried to turn into the second lane from the third lane. I switched. Out to the first lane because I spotted him getting to cut into my lane. This the junction in front of The Concourse.
Stay safe folks and install that front and back camera. I am using 70mai. Wanna hear from motorcycling bros out there if there is something I missed.

Would you feel offended?

Will you feel offended if someone (e.g. friend/ relative) sits in the back instead of front?

May or may not have accidentally sat in the back of friend’s car recently by default because too used to sitting behind for grabcar. I personally don’t mind but understand some may feel offended cause it makes them seem like a chauffeur.

I feel so bad and can’t stop thinking about it… though then again sometimes front seat has handbag and stuff so how

When to adjust mirror for TP test (BBDC)

I’m taking auto at bbdc next week and one thing i cannot seem to clarify w my PDI is when to pull up and pull down my mirrors in the circuit

I know that you should typically only adjust mirror before and after parking, but im not sure abt when to adjust mirror for the other elements in the circuit, as my instructor teaches me to look out for some visual cues on the ground during the s-course, or the ramp. Will i get penalised if i stop in the middle of a course to adjust?

Also for some context i cant speak chinese very well but i can understand 80% (bc im not chinese). My instructor only speaks chinese so he gets frustrated when i ask him questions lol i think he hates my guts
