Hey, so I have tonquin valley booked for July 29th-August 1. Starting at Portal campground to Amethyst, then to Switchback.

I just found out the Astoria trailhead is closed so if my last night is at Switchback then I would have to hike all the way back through the trails I’ve already done which is really long. Does anybody have any other recommendations on a way out?

I was looking at instead just spending the first night at portal then Amethyst and skipping Switchback. Would 1 day at Amethyst be enough or would it be work staying the extra night at Switchback?

I live in Banff so I would be driving up from Banff and then back down after the hike.
