Switching from Plusnet to Vodafone. Issues with One-touch switch (apparently)

TL;DR does a part-fibre service prevent a one-touch switch process when changing provider to a full fibre service. Original provider I'm cancelling with says it shouldn't be an issue. New provider (Vodafone) says I can't have one-touch switch, after spending 3 hours setting up a broadband package with them over chat.

Would love some input/experience here as I'm at a loss.

Moved into this place with an existing 25mb Package with Plusnet which is now £31 a month. I'm cancelling this month as I got an offer from Vodafone for 24.50 for 500mb and the contract is up.

The issue is that after processing the sale and being assured multiple times this would be a one-touch switch process. I got an email after the call to inform me of the following:

"t looks like your Vodafone Home Broadband order was not processed via One Touch Switching.

This means we may not have been able to contact your existing broadband provider to cancel your old service when your new Vodafone plan activates.

If you are switching from another provider, please check with them to make sure they turn off your old service. "

I spoke to their broadband team today and was furious because I spent 3 hours setting up this package just to be told "nah, sorry you'd have to cancel the plan and set it up again but we can't assure you it won't fail the one-touch switch check.

The person on the broadband team at Vodafone was assuming this is because my connection is part-fibre, and Vodafone is full fibre so the different service is the issue.

I then spoke with Plusnet retention team and even he was like "what? that shouldn't be an issue". I'm guessing this is some backtracking to try cover up for a mistake, but the fact the owness is on me for an issue that shouldn't have happened or should have been avoided/acknowledged earlier is mental.

Transferring my Savings from Ireland (AIB) to UK (Barclays)

Just moved across the pond and wondering what the most cost effective route would be to get my savings across from Ireland as I'm saving for a mortgage here and half of the deposit is sitting in my AIB account.

I was thinking of getting Revolut premium, transferring in EURs to my Rev account, then convert within Revolut and then transferring the Sterling to my Barclays account.

Is there any better alternatives I could be missing here?

Mortgage multipliers, solo buyer, 35k salary. Advice?

Hey folks, so will try keep this short. Starting a job in a few weeks (which is a 40k salary) honestly, I know I won't like the job as much as the 35k salary one, but I have a deadline to purchase the house I'm living in from my landlord as they are intending to sell next Feb, but want me to take it for 205k if I can. This is discounted from the 225k it was valued at.

I have most of the savings for the deposit and would fill in the rest between now and the deadline. My concern is my buying power. I think I'll be good on the 40k salary for the job I'm about to start, with a 4.5x or 5x multiplier. But on 35k I don't think I have a chance, I'd need like a 5.5x multiplier at least?

For some context, my partner is in the middle of opening her own business, the timing is awkward cause she won't be on her own books for at least the next 6-9 months, so this is why it's going on my salary alone. The 40k job will just temporary ofc, but it's a 4 on 4 off night shift with 12 hours of 6pm-6am, so even though it's for the house, it'll be rough.

Anyways, any advice would be much appreciated, this is all very new to me.

Hi folks, so I just moved across the pond from Ireland with my partner and we are looking to buy the home from our landlord for 200k, but we have a deadline of next February to go for the mortgage.

I'm starting a job before the end of May with a 40k salary but my partner, who has just opened her own business, is not going to be self-employed until probably the end of this year. This is all to say that I'll most likely have to take the mortgage out under my own income.

In terms of brokers to speak with or banks I should consider, or any other advice folks could pass on, it would be much appreciated. I have a small amount saved but I think I'd be barely scraping the required amount needed at 4.5x my salary, after the deposit.

For what it's worth, this is not a new build, so I assume that rules out any first time buyer schemes?

This is all very new to me, and I'm quite ignorant to a lot of it even though I've tried to research it. Thanks in advance!
