Had surgery 10th june

Just wanted to share an update for anyone who's still on the fence about having gyno surgery. If it's something you've been thinking about for a long time, I'd say go for it. It has genuinely changed my life, and I have no regrets.

I'll be 4 weeks post op next Wednesday, and I'm so glad I went through with it. Completed in London with Dr Nurien. I struggled with gyno for years, and it completely knocked my confidence. I was always hiding it under baggy black T-shirts and never took my top off in the summer you can probably imagine how that felt.

My advice is to do your research before choosing a surgeon. Make sure they're experienced with this type of procedure, look through their before and after photos, read reviews, and take your time finding someone you trust.

I'm still recovering. My left incision has had a little leakage and some pus a week ago, which isn't due to the surgery, it's just because my body is taking a bit longer to heal than expected. I'm still keeping a dressing over that side until it's fully healed. My right incision has healed nicely, so no more plaster on that side. I'm also still wearing my compression vest.

I've included some before photos along with an up to date picture I took today. I still have a way to go with my recovery, but I'm really happy with how things are looking already. I can't wait to get back in the gym, lose some more body fat, and build muscle.

Good luck to everyone who's about to have surgery or is currently recovering. Trust the process, it really is worth it.

10 days post surgery

Having struggled with gynaecomastia since I was a young teenager, at 37 years old I finally decided to have surgery in London with Dr Nurein.

I had the procedure under local anaesthetic, which was surprisingly quick and mostly painless. The only discomfort I experienced was a sharp stabbing pain at one point during the liposuction. Overall, I actually felt more during the lipo than the gland's excision itself. The procedure lasted around an hour, and my surgeon talked me through everything throughout the process, which was very reassuring. I was in and out of the clinic within approximately two hours, which was a very quick turnaround. The nursing staff were excellent throughout.

Recovery has been going well so far. I was provided with two compression vests, an elastic band to wear, and additional plasters. I'll be wearing everything for the first two weeks, and after that, just the compression vest. I was advised to wear the vest for 12 hours each night for a further two weeks, although I may continue wearing it 24 hours a day during that period to aid recovery and provide additional comfort.

Yesterday evening, I noticed some extra leakage from the wounds after seeing stains on my plasters. I removed them, took some photos, and sent them to my surgeon, who advised me to apply a layer of antiseptic cream and replace the plasters for a few more days. My post-operative instructions stated that the plasters could be removed tomorrow, but based on my surgeon's advice, I'll keep them on for a little longer. I'm just hoping this hasn't set my healing back at all.

Overall, my experience with the clinic has been excellent. First impressions of post surgery results are looking good. I would definitely recommend the clinic. The price was very reasonable too.

The hardest part of recovery for me has been the mental side of things, having to slow down, relax, and avoid doing too much. I've always found it difficult to sit still, and that's even harder with a 9 month old and a 4 year old constantly asking Dad to play. It's not easy, but I know it's all part of the recovery process. Also, I'm not able to go to the gym. I can't wait to focus on losing body fat and building muscle again. I've chosen to keep the surgery private from most family and friends, which has made recovery even more challenging at times. It can be difficult going through the healing process while trying not to explain why I'm limited in what I can do. It's not easy.

Sleeping on my back has also been challenging, as I'm naturally a side sleeper. Constant lower back pain and waking up several times throughout the night certainly isn't helping recovery. I've tried placing pillows under my knees to reduce the pressure on my lower back, which has helped a little.

With the weather warming up, I'm not particularly looking forward to wearing the compression vest, especially as I sweat so much, it feels like I've just jumped into the sea! That could make the next few weeks interesting!

My advice to anyone considering surgery is simple, follow your surgeon's instructions carefully, and make sure you rest, rest, and rest some more to give your body the best chance to heal.

Good luck to everyone taking this step. I hope it helps you regain your confidence and enjoy life to the fullest once again.
