Had surgery 10th june

Just wanted to share an update for anyone who's still on the fence about having gyno surgery. If it's something you've been thinking about for a long time, I'd say go for it. It has genuinely changed my life, and I have no regrets.

I'll be 4 weeks post op next Wednesday, and I'm so glad I went through with it. Completed in London with Dr Nurien. I struggled with gyno for years, and it completely knocked my confidence. I was always hiding it under baggy black T-shirts and never took my top off in the summer you can probably imagine how that felt.

My advice is to do your research before choosing a surgeon. Make sure they're experienced with this type of procedure, look through their before and after photos, read reviews, and take your time finding someone you trust.

I'm still recovering. My left incision has had a little leakage and some pus a week ago, which isn't due to the surgery, it's just because my body is taking a bit longer to heal than expected. I'm still keeping a dressing over that side until it's fully healed. My right incision has healed nicely, so no more plaster on that side. I'm also still wearing my compression vest.

I've included some before photos along with an up to date picture I took today. I still have a way to go with my recovery, but I'm really happy with how things are looking already. I can't wait to get back in the gym, lose some more body fat, and build muscle.

Good luck to everyone who's about to have surgery or is currently recovering. Trust the process, it really is worth it.

I need an opinion on my chest

I'm 23, I've been insecure about my chest since I was 16. Is this a gyno or I have some other issue with my areolas. I would appriciate any kind of opinion and how much is it noticable? Thank you!

1 year post-op update

Hi guys, I had my surgery in May 2025, over 1 year has passed so I thought I would share my journey. I went with Dr. Istvan Molnar in Budapest, Hungary.

The first 3 pics are before and the rest is now. I am very happy with the result and it changed my life for the better. The left pec is completely perfect with no gland and no scarring left, whereas the right still has a small scar and I believe some gland left but it is minimal and not visible really.

The only bad part is the scarring from the tubes below both pecs, which has made that area quite sensitive and won’t go away. If anyone has any tips would be appreciated, thanks!

Gyno after bulk?

So a while ago I bulked to the heaviest I've been (100kg), I wasn't really fat, although a bit more than usual. I naturally don't hold much mass/fat, so maybe that's why it also went to my chest. I bulked with a lot of milk products, I was also taking peptides for an injury and stacked it with a Ghrelin type peptide for appetite. The peptides are not known for having gyno as side-effect, but I thought I should mention. I also dipped in prohormones but that's like 15 years ago and I don't think it ever gave me gyno.

Anyway I lost weight after that due to some things in life. That's when I started noticing the "tits" and in some tshirts it was really really bad. I lost more weight but the puffy nipples stayed. Currently I am gaining weight again.

I think it's about 1 year since it became so noticeable (a couple months after the bulk).

I think it is less now than before and it might be hard to see on the pics.

Also it has never been tender/painfull and I don't feel anything hard, it just feels as fat and it has always felt like that. When it's hot/warm it is more noticable, also when I lean forward it shows.

1 side (the right) is noticeable worse than the other, but that might also be due to muscle imbalance between left and right pec.

Not sure what to do at this point, because from what I read is that it takes time to "harden" get fibrous and become real permanent gyno. So do I still have a chance? At this point I am considering something like raloxifene.

Opinions?

Thank you

Is gyno surgery actually worth it?

I'm on day 12 of recovery and I'm 17 years old, I'd like to hear other people's views about gyno and the surgery itself to see if missing out on my regular life is worth it for 6 weeks

Can you help me tell if I have gynecomastia or just chest fat?

Hello everyone

I’m looking for some opinions because I’m not sure if what I have is gynecomastia (gyno) or just excess chest fat. I’ve been overthinking it for a while and would really appreciate some honest feedback.

Surgeons that remove the whole gland? (UK)

Hello, everyone. I'm planning to have my gyno surgery done this year. I've had gyno from puberty (I'm in my late twenties now) and I've also recently started losing my hair (talk about winning the genetic lottery, lol! I tried finasteride to see if my pubertal gyno is sensitive to it and, unfortunately, it is - I got nipple tenderness and swelling 7 days into taking the drug at 0.25mg ed.

I've been planning to have my gyno surgery done for a while now, but, while researching more about it, I found that surgeons typically leave some tissue right behind the nipple to prevent cratering deformities.

Surgeons I've looked at so far:

- Dr Nurein - probably the most popular here on Reddit. Overall good reviews, but some bad ones (too much tissue left, revisions, recurring gyno). Also some have concerns since he is a not a registered specialist here in the UK. From watching some of his surgeries on YouTube I can see that he leaves quite a bit of tissue under the nipple to prevent cratering. However, he also has information on gyno and finasteride on his website so atm I'm thinking consulting with him.

- Dr Karidis - too expensive for me from what people say about his prices

- Signature Clinic and UK skin - mixed reviews. Some people say that the aftercare is lacking. Also, I cannot find the surgeons that people report good results from on their websites. (Perhaps they moved to different places?)

My questions are: Which surgeons do you have experience with and recommend (in the UK)? Have any of you specifically requested 100% removal and the surgeon actually delivered? Did you get any nipple sinking/deformity and was it bad? Surely it cannot be worse than gyno itself?

Great surgery experience with Dr.Cobbins

Hi

First of all. I want to thank this community for the helping me through this journey so far. I am 41 years old and finally got my surgery done 3 days ago. This was my first surgery ever, so I was quite nervous and had a lot of questions. I got answers to most of them from this subreddit.

Dr.Lorri Cobbins of the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago (same practice as Dr.Braithwaitr) is really good! She and her team made the whole process so smooth. The RN that took care of me was Sabrina and she was the best. Super kind, helpful and really put my mind at ease. I must have asked her 20 questions on email and in person and she answered everything patiently with a smile. Dr.Cobbins was super empathetic. She understood the psychological toll gynecomastia takes on men and assured me that she was committed to fix it for me and give me the new life I wanted.

Surgery

* General anesthesia with a tube for breathing. The anesthesiologist was really nice and explained everything to me. I have sleep apnea. Otherwise I'd have gone under twilight anesthesia where I breathe on my own.

* I had lipo, gland removal and trimming of the areaola. Dr.Cobbins showed me the pictures of what was removed and it was a lot. Lol. Let me know if you want me to post that. It's gross.

* I had no tape or anything, just surgical glue on top of stitches and I started showering the day after.

Post op

* Need to wear the vest 23 hours a day for 2 weeks and 12 hours a day for another 2 weeks.

* I had pain of around 7/10 for about 5 hours after surgery. But I kept taking 2 extra strength Tylenol every 4 hours for 24 hours and then reduced it to as needed. I haven't had pain more than 1/10 after that. In fact it has been mostly 0/10.

* Some bruising and minor swelling, nothing unexpected. I had the post op appointment the day after and she said everything looks good. Bruising takes a few weeks to go away. It's been almost 3 days and the bruises are a bit itchy. I'm not scratching them though.

* I had bought an extra compression vest that happened to be the same brand and model that Dr.Cobbins provides. Based on their suggestion, I hand wash one everyday and wear the other one. They do provide additional vests upon request. I also have to put lipo foam pads in my compression vest for the first 2 weeks.

* The compression vest is not as uncomfortable as I had thought. 3 days and I barely think about it. They also told me it's ok to wear an underarmour compression shirt under it if I want.

* They work with a company called Beauty Retreat that provides caregiver services. I didn't have help and this was my first surgery so ChatGPT recommended getting a caregiver. I paid $550 for a ride back from the surgery plus 4 hours of care. It was totally worth it because she helped me with food, buying some stuff I needed, took my vitals, helped me settle in etc. That said, I think it's manageable on your own. Just have food prepared in advance because you won't feel like doing much the day of surgery. You can hire Rainbow Transport for around $125 to just transport you back home.

* I am flying back tomorrow (4 days after surgery). I have opted for wheelchair service with American Airlines just so that they can help me lift my bags where necessary (putting it on the security check, overhead bins in the plane etc).

* I have several post op appointments that I'd be doing virtually from San Francisco.

I will share pictures in a couple of months when it is completely healed. Will keep you all posted on my recovery.

Thanks again.

Chat my nipples are stuck inside I’m getting a little concerned.

I got the surgery done the 15th of June and it’s already the 3rd of July. Happy 4th to whoever is reading on the 4th. I’m getting a little bit scared about the look and that my nips might stay like this forever. Has anyone dealt with this? And if yes how do I start fixing it. My surgeon told me to stretch and massage it. He also said to take bromelain and apply arnica cream; and that it will take time and that I shouldn’t worry.

Secondary Refinements After Gynecomastia Surgery: Why a Touch-Up Doesn't Mean the Operation Has Failed

One question I am often asked is whether gynecomastia surgery should be a "one-and-done" procedure, or whether further treatment is sometimes part of the normal journey.

The honest answer is that it depends on the individual.

No two patients start with the same anatomy, skin quality, healing response or expectations. Two patients with the same "grade" of gynecomastia can have very different outcomes because skin elasticity, scar formation, body composition and healing all vary considerably.

For that reason, it is helpful to distinguish between a secondary refinement and a revision procedure. They are not the same thing.

A secondary refinement is usually a relatively minor procedure performed after healing is complete to further improve an already good result. In my practice this usually involves a small amount of liposuction to improve symmetry or refine the contour. In many practices, these are considered part of achieving the best possible aesthetic result rather than correcting a failed operation.

A revision procedure, on the other hand, is performed to address a recognised problem such as persistent glandular tissue (undercorrection), recurrent gland, significant contour deformity eg cratering, problematic scarring, nipple distortion or another rare complication requiring corrective surgery.

These two categories are often grouped together under the term "revision rate," but they represent very different clinical situations.

As a Gynecomastia Surgeon who readily offers fine tunings, as in my practice we prioritise patient results and satisfaction, our refinement rate, even though still very moderate, is directly connected to more satisfied patients, because we are giving the time and attention to help patients and if needed, guide on results after the initial procedure, as part of our aftercare.

It's also important to remember that the chest continues to change after surgery. Weight changes, muscle development, scar maturation and the natural healing process can all alter the contour months after what was initially an excellent result.

Equally important is timing. Swelling, firmness and scar tissue can continue to improve for many months, so judging the final outcome too early can lead to unnecessary anxiety and, occasionally, unnecessary surgery.

When comparing surgeons, procedure-specific experience, consistent outcomes, careful patient selection, honest communication about expectations, management of complications and long-term follow-up are all equally important considerations.

As someone who specialises in gynecomastia surgery and performs revision surgery for patients treated elsewhere, I also see the distinction firsthand. True corrective revision surgery is very different from the minor contour refinements that many surgeons offer to optimise an already successful result. In my own practice, the majority of my secondary procedures are small refinements, often performed without additional surgical fees, rather than operations to correct a poor or failed outcome but in some cases unsatisfactory outcome is due to intolerance to local anaesthesia which is resolved by changing to sedation, (over 90% of my cases are done under local anaesthesia, less than 1% do not tolerate local anaesthesia the first time and hence need sedation).

Finally, if a clinic quotes a revision rate, it is worth asking:

1. Does this include small touch-ups?

2. What counts as a revision?

3. How long are patients followed?

  1. Are patient-requested refinements included in the figures?

Without understanding those definitions, comparisons between clinics can be misleading.

Happy to answer any questions or discuss different approaches to understanding of refinements and revision surgery. You can see how many redditors need refinement/corrections so having a realistic approach to gynecomastia surgery and choosing the right surgeon can help reduce expectation anxiety. Most problems spontaneously resolve or are solvable.

Do I have gyno?

I started taking .1% 1mL topical finasteride and I have been very paranoid of any potential side effects. Does it seem like I have gyno or just chest fat?
