Different ways to attract bluegill to an area? (Not to my hook)
I’m on a rented property, I can’t build a deck or anything, we have a wooden bulkhead. I don’t want to sink a Christmas tree (which seems to be the most common method) because I fish here and I’d rather not get snagged every time I cast.
I heard I could hang a sock with dog food in it to attract flies which would create maggots and they fall into the water which attracts bluegill. I’m down for that but just not by my house.
Someone else suggested sinking a few milk crates with bricks to create shelter for bluegill. I can do that as well

On another note I have a kayak and one of the bayous I like going to used to have a lot of bluegill but in recent times they are only in a few areas, by cypress trees. I find that I’m not even getting bites by the cypress trees anymore. I want to attract more but I’m not sure what I can really do. I know that I can’t single handedly build their population but I’m considering going sink a bunch of milk crates along the bank, and set up some of those maggot dispensers lmfao, apparently that could help.. any advice?
