I recently did a 20 mile hike in the Uintas with a set of brand new Topo Ultraventure 4’s and the toe tip on the left shoe is already starting to separate. I had not done any actual hiking with them before this trip, but walked maybe a few miles in them around town.

I have a pair of Solomons trail runners that I’ve had for years and they are built like a tank, but the toe box is a little small for my feet so I wanted to try these. Did I just get an unlucky set, or is this a common occurrence? Wondering if I should return/exchange at REI.
