Chocolate Frosted Flakes were perfect

I‘d love to know who made the call to discontinue them and replace them with crappy Chocolate Milkshake Frosted Flakes, which taste less like chocolate milkshakes than like chocolate that’s given up on itself. Why do we always have to try and fix stuff that isn’t broken? I’d love to know who to direct my ire.

What’s your desert island cereal?

You gotta eat a bowl of this every single day for the rest of your life.

You have access to an infinite supply of frosty milk, so you are not forced to eat it dry.

You can only choose one, but feel free to include two honorable mentions.

I’ll go with Fruity Pebbles, with Captain Crunch Peanut Butter and Cinnamon Toast Crunch as runners up!

Toast Crunch Marshmallow Treats Cinnsanity

I gathered 7 different variations of the ever popular Cinnamon Toast Crunch to make my version of Rice Krispy Treats. I saw one version that adds condensed milk and vanilla with the brown butter, so I went that way. It is a sugar, yet tasty overload. I brought it to the party and shared it with my neighbor. I have so much leftover cereal. 🙄 Happy 4th!

Biggest thud I’ve heard out of a cereal box. Somehow folded over itself too!

Cotton Candy Lucky Charms

New Cotton Candy Lucky Charms. Featuring cotton candy dusted oat based crunchies and classic Lucky Charms marshmallows with the addition of 3 new unicorn shapes. Note that these are made with natural flavors and colors (whatever natural cotton candy flavor is supposed to be 😂 ).

They definitely have a cotton candy flavor but it hits hard and fast and then quickly dissipates. The coating doesn't appear to be sugar based so it's missing the sweetness associated with cotton candy. Instead a Lacroix-esque "essence of cotton candy" fades into the lightly sweetened toasty oat flavor of base Lucky Charms crunchies. If you don't get a marshmallow in a bite then you totally miss out on the sugar that's crucial to "cotton candy" in my opinion. Strangely I was sort of tricked into thinking the lingering flavor was grape. Perhaps an optical trick from the crunchies being purple dusted? Or perhaps one of the "natural flavors" is grape? Anyways that got me thinking that cotton candy grapes are a thing you can buy at the grocery store so maybe the flavor of grapes and cotton candy are much more similar than I realized.

Unfortunately these were a miss for me and a step down from OG Lucky Charms. I thoroughly enjoyed the recent Strawberry Lucky Charms so I was excited to try another flavored variety utilizing the original base oat cereal. But something about the cotton candy/grape profile just doesn't mesh well with that base oat cereal in my opinion. This is probably one of those rare times where (can't believe I'm saying this) they should have used the lesser corn based crunchy pieces that they've used in other versions like the Rainbow Sprinkle Lucky Charms. The crispier and sweeter corn would blend better I think.

Cereals with marshmallows

I love Froot Loops with marshmallows. I love the crunch of the dehydrated marshmallows.
The last box I bought the marshmallows were soft. So disappointed. Has anyone else noticed this?

Eating cereal out of a bowl is stupid

A bowl is a terrible shape for Cereal + Milk. its volume increases exponentially , making you use too much milk often, as you eat eventually the Milk:Cereal ratio goes up fast, and you are chasing around your food. Drinking from a bowl is awkward, you usually have to use both hands and imbibe from a bowl like it's a ritual chalice.

A mug is the right way to go. It's standard volume, when the Milk:Cereal ratio increases you can more easily control the cereal against the sides, and well, it's a mug, you can easily take a sip and then you have a perfect ratio again.
