Mayday call
So a flag upside down means a mayday call right? This is my work mayday call. It can't hurt right? It's not like the offense will get even WORSE. Can it?
The Positive Potato is helping some too.

This was a multiclass 2005 GT1 and GT2 race at 91 Catalunya. I diced with that Aston Martin for over 20 laps and after the pit stops it was a straight bare knuckles fight to the flag. We were back and forth right up until the last few laps when I pulled a gap on him and he had another car to fight.
This race was awesome. I love that Murcielago and Catalunya in this game is just a fantastic track. I love that you can set mandatory pit stops, real weather (of course in Spain it was sunny and nice) and caution periods (there was a yellow car sideways on the racing line at one point I don't know why the yellow flag wasn't called). All this keeps the races from getting boring or stale.
Then I got popped for pit lane speed 🙄 The Aston won after the penalty was applied. Hey, it's realistic!
But holy cow what a race!
Sometime I ALT+TAB out of the game for various reasons, either while in a menu or in-game or during a replay. It's about a 50/50 chance that when I get back into the game, I'll be greeted to a black screen. I can hear the sounds of the game in the background but no graphics. The fix is to restart the game. My PC is fine, it doesn't hang or anything, I know the game is still going; I can hear it but the screen has gone black. It can happen in-race, in a replay or even in the menus. Other games don't do this, I can alt+tab in and out no problem with RRRE, AC Evo or AC Rally. It's a AMS2-specific issue.
Simple question- is there a setting or anything I can do so that this doesn't happen? I know there are software gurus on here, so I'm reaching out to the best for help!
I used to use % and adjust each race to my skill level. But I read that the AAI is fantastic and always makes for great races.
Um no, not so far! I did a Group 5 race and just drive off into the distance and there was no actual racing. Yesterday I did a practice session in the GTR Saleen and had he fastest time. It would have been too 3 in the Leaderboard. Today I did a race weekend and I had the same time (ballpark anyway still too 3 on Leaderboard) but the AI had gained several seconds, putting up times that were over a full second over the best Leaderboard time. I went from best yesterday to worst today. I'm not as fast as that fastest time but the 27th fastest AI would have been within the top 3 humans in the world.
So I figured it was an AAI glitch and I restarted the weekend. LOL my race is pace was a couple seconds faster than the AI 😐 this time around
TL;DR How do I make the AAI more consistent and close to my pace? Also am I missing a setting to make the AI spread out more? In a field of 28 we were all within 1.5 secs
Time & again guys post stuff not understanding even the most fundamental things about setting up a car. They only drive with fixed setups and have no interest in learning. They don't even understand that the set up of the car is to set it up for you and your driving style, the circuit you're on and the type of race you're doing.
Then I constantly read about how this game has terrible "feel" or is "floaty" or it sucks because it does this or does that 🙄. I'm floored daily by the guys who post like they are experts and all they do is mess with tire pressures though they don't know why.
Do yourself a favor- crack a book and learn all about it. Jump into the craft of sim racing it's actually really interesting
We think this handsome devil is a year old, and the older he gets the more like a pittie he looks. Obviously he's mixed with something else too. Last July he was about 24 lbs and he was dropped off in our yard at night behind our closed fence. We took him no question about that. I think he was freshly weaned, my wife even bottle fed him for a week or so. He was the same size as Lilly, the white Lhasa Apso. Now he towers over her!
Now he's 67 lbs and he is perfect for our home. He has a natural instinct to look after the smaller dogs. When I let them outside, he waits at the door for everyone else to come in. He is always protecting Dagon, the black dog with a lot of grey, He's the elder statesman if the pack at 15 years old. I've never seen that before in a dog. I love it!

This is a touring car race at Sebring today. Just watch the first few laps, it's all you really need to see. Sunset Bend is MUCH TOO SMOOTH in the Evo version of the track. Plus there are other bumps at various places that just don't exist in the Evo version.
Just because a track is (may be?) laser scanned does not mean it's accurate. Especially here in Florida people just don't do their job very well and if Kunos hired a local surveyor to come do the scan and they didn't send someone from Italy to supervise the work, I can guarantee the job was botched. I've worked for surveyors in Florida and they are sloppy.
Perfect example is PMR. They supposedly scanned some of the tracks but none are accurate. They probably bid the work out and took the lowest bid. The quality of the work they got was commensurate with the quality of the bid they accepted. Honestly the Evo version is not much better than the PMR version. If there's no bumps there's no Sebring.
If Kunos is looking for realism, the track should be pulled back and fixed. This isn't really Sebring.
No, the track has never been resurfaced the concrete is from the 1950's.
I've had this button box for a couple years now. The ABS and TC rotaries don't work to click as a button or as a rotary though the TC works as a system sound volume control now. This happened out of nowhere after working find earlier this week.
Is it done? The other buttons do work though. Is there a good button box I can replace it with? I'm ideally looking for 4 rotaries and lots of buttons and self returning toggle switches
Yesterday the TC and ABS dials at the top of the button box developed an issue. The ABS dial just doesn't work. It won't work as a button or a rotary. The TC dial now works on system sound volume and the button no longer works.
It worked fine earlier this week and was set up in games as ABS and TC. I got this thing 2 years ago and I recently moved so it got unmounted and remounted but has worked fine.
It's just weird that BOTH rotaries went at the same time. The rest of the buttons work fine. Is this thing kaput, is there any known issues with conflicts? Is it time for a better button box?
What is a good replacement?
The Sox have a new interim hitting coach. This guy has been with the organization for a long time, but I know nothing else about him.
It's good to see that they aren't just sitting on their hands. The bats suck, and they are acknowledging that there needs to be change. We really aren't that far out of it and it's only May. Maybe they can still right the ship.
what's the point of getting a Cold Steel knife if you don't like to daily a ridiculous pocket sword? 🤣
I hate to carry it, but I love this knife.
Who's at fault?
Lap 15, I'm driving the #75 Monza and that yellow #7 Silvia had been closing the gap for several laps. Given the state of my tires he probably would have gotten by before the 20 laps was up but he decided no time like the present. And here's my present
$21.59 they are practically giving AC Rally away. And the weird thing is, the bundle was $3 cheaper than the stand alone game.... So I bought the bundle despite having Evo already.
My wife would be mad if I told her LOL I have yet another game. This hobby is taking over my life!
Annix flat bottom wheel with a QUFEI Pro button hub. These QUFEI hubs have a nice LED and display on them, the shifters are OK and the buttons are really good- well laid out and plentiful with 2 switches and rotaries.
But the plastic is cheap and flexible and the magnets can come loose in the shifters. That makes this hub a bit problematic. you have to choose your QR carefully because of that flex when you tighten it up. Plus the cheap plastic breaks easily (I broke a shifter on my other QUFEI).
This one is on the bench because I may have over-tightened the bolts holding the QR on. Turns out that was not even the source of the rattle I was hearing with FFB 🤬. The plastic flex causes the QR collar to bottom out and not work correctly or hold to the hub very well. I tried to tighten the bolts more because of that rattling noise. Turns out that the QR was not holding well because it was bottoming out. The RASTP quick releases are pretty good for the money but you can't mount them on plastic. Now I'm going to put a different design QR on it (Bartoo/Annix) and a shaft extension for my new rig set up. These shaft extensions tend to hold up better with a little flex.
And because I over tightened the RASTP, the cover to the display came off and that's a totally different rattle 🙄 as it fell into the unit. Oh bother (to quote Winnie The Pooh).
So I need to crack this bad boy open and see if I can fix that screen cover. I'll remove the piece and fix the rattle either way. The screen and LEDs work fine so if the cover won't go back on.... oh well.
A big cold front rolled through Tampa where I'm at last night and it's barrelling toward Miami and falling apart as it goes. It's supposed to hit Miami in the late afternoon so the FIA moved the race back 3 hours. It's starting 1:00 EDT
In the past my TH8A has always worked great with AMS2. it's permanently used as a sequential stick.
Today I was driving a prototype mod (same issue if I tried other cars) and to upshift, I had to hit the shifter twice. huh? Downshifts are fine.
Evo it works normally. In Win11 the joy.cpl panel it's working perfectly. It seems only to be AMS2.
Any advice? It used to work finebin AMS2. But this is the first time I have used sequential stick in a couple months & there has been a patch. I did move recently and had to set up my rig anew. That said, it's working fine in other games.
Today I mounted the (completely useless because I don't drift or rally) handbrake which was the final piece. I moved and this is The Sim Paddock. Yeah I have a steering wheel problem.
At my old place I only used the seat part of the cockpit, now I use the whole thing so the pedals aren't mounted bolted down to the plywood, they are mounted in the frame. That changed all the angles and now I have 4 steering shaft extensions for my many different quick releases. Ugh. But this setup is a lot more stable, less movement and just a better layout.
The challenge in talking about is Group 5, various tracks. My difficulty is Get Real. I okay with manual clutch and h-shifter no assists. Can you do the challenges and still be Get Real difficulty if you use autoclutch and paddle shifters?
I not able to find anything in searching for this info. I basically want to know if I'm competing on the same level as others. In AMS2 it actually tells you what the others are using IIRC
The cars look and sound awesome. There's no denying that we're in a golden age of racing. Look beyond the fact that with ABS and TC and ESC the drivers don't need near the amount of talent they used to. The cars drive themselves with similar power levels to that which cars had before the nannies era started. Drivers used to have to DRIVE the cars and they had to be good. Very good. OK but it's allowing for a lot more cars to get on the grid. right? All the nannies were supposed to save GT racing. Right?
But watching the GT World Challenge race at COTA there's only 22 cars. 3 classes get podiums. So 9 of 22 cars end up on the podium. Basically half of the field gets participation trophies. It feels like the whole series caters to rich amateurs so much that it's all spectacle and no substance anymore.
Today we're at Sebring and it kicks off at 11AM EDT, 15:00 GMT.

Cars and Coffee is something we do here in the US where we meet up at a (real in person) coffee shop and show off our ride, meet new people and talk about gearhead stuff.
In AC Evo, every week we meet at a new track to run laps, chill out and talk about gearhead stuff. It's a track day, but more social. C&C is better if you're in the chat so join our discord and chat with us, we'd love to hear from you.
