Reduced from 6.9 to 6.4 by not eating sugar

June my a1c was 6.9. I didn't eat sugar, wheat, rice, potatoes and mainly ate fruit, vegetables and protein. September it was 6.6 and yesterday it was 6.4. I also lost 20 pounds so I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself even though I still think I have a long way to go.

I've had 2 cookies since June, no other sugar.

If I donated blood the day before an A1C test, would it affect the results?

Thinking of donating blood but wondering if it would affect an A1C test I have to take soon after.

UK and US Passport holders, are there any airlines where you can enter both passports online and check in 24 hours in advance?

This is getting annoying traveling on 2 passports. You can't check in the day before, because you can't enter both passports online, you have to go to the desk the day of the flight to get boarding passes.

I'm sure it will come one day that their online check in will let us check in the day before with both passports. The first airline who does it will be the airline I fly, or have any airlines already changed their "enter passport details" already?

EDIT The problem is that I can no longer check in the day before because I have 2 passports. It will come but it's not here yet to be able to enter 2 passports into online check in and get the boarding pass 24 hours before the flight like we used to do.

2nd EDIT Someone told me United has this feature. If so I'm flying United next. I'd be really interested in someone who has flown 2+ legs of a journey with 2 passports and if they could check in 24 hours in advance for both legs of the trip.

Has anyone got their A1c down without taking anything, just using diet and exercise?

It's great to read so many stories of people's numbers coming down, but I'm wondering how difficult it is to bring numbers down using only diet and exercise and nothing on prescription. Please share.

What is the reason for black serviettes?

Everywhere I eat in Edinburgh I’m given black paper serviettes. Have you noticed? Is there a reason? Im thinking someone somewhere has a large quantity they sold to hotels and restaurants cheaply. It’s very strange that I haven’t had a meal out and been given anything other than black paper serviettes.
