PSA: DO NOT firmware upgrade Dream Air/Super microOLED

The latest firmware upgrades for Dream Air and Super uOLED have caused severe issues.

For Super uOLED, it now only works on 72Hz mode. 90Hz fails (many users are reporting this).

Edit:. My Dream air appeared to be bricked at first, but it eventually started working again. At first it was black, with a hissing from the speakers, but now it works. The speakers still hiss/constant white noise, however.

If you're affected, you can ask support (via ticket, not live chat) to fix your headset with a firmware rollback.

Dream Air and Super OLED eyetracking failure in Pimax Play

I've seen many people with eyetracking failure in Pimax Play 1.43.9. The LEDs don't turn on at all, for both Dream Air and Super micro OLED.

The "fix" is to use 1.43.7 instead. The LEDs and tracking work. But Pimax Play fails to calibrate on 1.43.7 (stating "your eye movements do not match the graphic"). Multiple gaskets and eye distance won't fix it.

Since I'm seeing others have this same issue, it seems to be a bug. Will the next Pimax Play resolve this?

I should note, using Broken Eye software, the camera feeds are visible (with 1.43.7 only), and work with Baballonia (3rd party calibration). So this is likely a Pimax Play issue.

For 1.43.9, support told me the eyetracking service fails to start.

Dream Air - Sboys3 driver review (not good?)

EDIT: I apparently had a bug with using the sboys3 driver the first time. Using it now, it's likely better than stock. I'd call it "flat" at the edges, while stock looks more barrel distorted (but wider FOV). I can't tell if "flat" edges look better yet.

Also with sboys3 - I can look around with my eyes, and it doesn't hurt. With stock, the distortion makes my eyes hurt if I look around.

Original post: I got my Dream Air today, and I was stunned by the visuals. Despite loving my Crystal Super 50PPD's lenses, and FOV, I find dream air more immersive. The panels are essentially 'perfect' visually.

I used a custom slim gasket to get better eye position to the lenses. This gave me the advertised FOV (for my Western face shape). + thin Studioform pad.

Spatially, it's very accurate stock. I don't see much distortion. But with sboys3 driver... It (looked) very pincushion distorted. Just like BSB2 did. The edges get stretched out (example image to demonstrate - not from headset):

Demonstrative image - pincushion distortion

Another bug - the sboys3 driver added a green flickering line at the borders of my FOV. This didn't seem right either.

Edit: The distortion and green line bug went away after launching again. It now looks very flat and even at the edges. And no green lines. I also get much better FPS - while I didn't at first.
