Abkhazia has submitted a bid to host 2027 world domino championship and 2028 CONIFA football cup. Both events have previously been hosted by Akhazia in 2011 and 2016. Organizers expressed support for hosting these comprtotions in Abkhazia, but no final decision has been made.
Let's hope these bids will be successful and bring people across the world closer together.
If we look at the current relationship between Georgian South Ossetian and Abkhazian societies. How do you see it going forward? The older generation which was killing each other during the wars is gradually being replaced by the newer generation that haven’t experienced the war, but is stuck living with the consequences of it. Similarly the separation created parallel historical memories in societies. On political fronts, no one is ready to back down from its demands.
My main question is: Do you think the next generation will soften its stance and be more open to dialogue and understanding the other, or will it in contrast harden current animosity into a long lasting position?
