Best NATO for a GSAR

I'm sure this is a terrible question, and sorry in advance.

Looking for a really solid option for a NATO for my GSAR. My starting point would probably be the one that Marathon sells, but I figured I would ask around a little bit first.

I really like the look of the Erika's MN straps, but I'm a little concerned about the stretchiness of them. I actually want something that's not stretchy, and just gives a straight up solid experience. I've had cordura and sailcloth straps before which I really liked, but they were not NATO style.

Pretty much the only other requirement, is that I don't want something that's made in China. Doesn't have to be outrageously exotic, but I do want something high quality. Solid black, or maybe just a little bit of a subdued pattern.

Side question -- is there such thing as a quick release, shoulderless spring bar? I absolutely love how solid the attachment is between the bracelet and the watch, in the spring bars are sturdy as hell. But it's kind of annoying to deal with them if I feel like changing between the bracelet and the straps. Maybe that's just the cost of doing business, but it would be nice for something that's a little simpler. Just curious

GSAR -- the little things that drive you nuts

A few weeks ago, I got lucky and bought a good condition GSAR for a crazy low price... PLUS a brand new bracelet.

So far, I love it.

But it's the little things that'll drive you nuts. I'm not keen on modifying it or changing anything, but wondering if I'm just a lunatic,or if other people think about this stuff :)

  1. The white on the bezel is a different white than the white on the dial and the white on the hands. Maybe it just wears and discolors over time, but aagh, white and white and white... They're all different white!
  2. Not unique to the GSAR, but I never get the bezel lined up with the 12 marker. Like in this photo, I'm always a one off. :)
  3. Also drives me crazy that the pop isn't tritium.
  4. The clasp... I wish the microadjust didn't require a tool. Depending on weather, conditions, etc... I feel like I would always go between one and two micro adjusts. I've learned to live with it and just set it and forget it, but some days it's just a little too tight, or too loose.
  5. To my eyes, the hour and minute hands are really tough to tell apart from each other. They're nearly the same length, and especially when I just glance at the time, they both look exactly the same. Now, I usually know generally what time it is, so I know it's 7:05, and not 1:35, but still, it's the little things right.

I don't think I've taken this watch off of my wrist for more than two or three minutes since I bought it. It's quite nice, and I'm grateful to have it. But the little things....! :P

PS -- trying to post a photo, will add one when I can!
