Fatebreak Trailer

Hi everyone again. I have been busy with my game again and this time I have two big updates. I have a trailer and have completed the single player story mode!

The trailer is a bit rough around the edges as I didn't want to spend too long polishing a turd if it's bad. I would love to know what you think of it, bad or good. Any advice is really welcome!

The saga is an interactive story arc, consisting of multiple acts, exploring the verse and interacting with other characters, think of it as a solo DnD story with me as your dm. I do hope later to really branch out and make this mode multiplayer like a real DnD campaign but one step at a time!

For those who have not seen my previous posts, im a solo dev working on this game Fatebreak, which is based on spinning a wheel for your characters. there are 28 species with each having their own subtypes and stats. Your characters spin for their origin stories and then you take them on the saga. It consists of weighted decisions and mini games, pulling from the wide roster of characters from other players in the game. The lore is vast and each new player brings their own lore to the verse!

FateBreak - Character spinner and roster collection game - Updates

Hi everyone! I'm the solo dev working on Fatebreak, a fantasy DnD-inspired browser game, and it's been a few weeks since my last update.

First, I want to address the biggest pieces of constructive feedback I received last time: the pricing, the visuals, and the use of AI for these visuals.

Because I’m a solo coder and not an artist, I use AI to generate the character portraits so you can visualise the unique traits you spin. However, the game engine, the stat logic, and the battle mechanics are 100% hand-coded by me. I heard your concerns loud and clear, so here is what I’ve updated:

  • Massive Price Drop: I've reduced the cost of spinning your first custom character from $9.99 down to $1.99.
  • Fully F2P Modes: You do not need to pay to play. "Squads" and "Card Clash" are completely free without having to spin your own characters. Paying just unlocks more personalisation for your own roster.
  • UI/UX Overhaul: I’m moving away from the generic design language and building custom buttons, fonts, and styling. Mechanics came first, but visuals are my main priority now (though I am still looking into getting a web/game designer to help!).

What is Fatebreak? It's a game built around the players. You spin a unique character from over 28 different species, each with their own sub-typing, archetypes, stats, flaws, and abilities. The game is set across two canonical layers: Fatebreak(magical light fantasy) and Wheel of Ruin (dark grim fantasy). Like DnD, your character interacts with and adds to the lore. Interacting with other players in their spins and more. Players vote on player suggestions to decide how the game evolves. (For example, players just voted for a new species—Witches—which are now live in the game!)

The 4 Main Game Modes:

  • Duels (PvP): 1v1 battles where stats, weapons, and abilities are mathematically weighted (e.g., Speed beats Strength, Strength beats Durability, Durability beats Speed).
  • Gauntlet (PvE): A dungeon-crawler mode. Battle through rounds of 10 increasingly difficult opponents for scaling rewards.
  • Squad Battles (PvE & PvP): Build a 3-character roster to test your team's synergy and strength against others.
  • Card Clash: A deck-builder and lane battler where your characters form the foundation of your deck. Pack cards, build strategies, and play live PvP or PvE.

I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback! If you want to play and are willing to give feedback, drop a message with your in-game username and I will add to your account with some free character spins.

FateBreak - New game modes released - Active development

Hi everyone,

I made a post a week or two ago about FateBreak - a DnD style fantasy character spinner game. Where you spin your own unique characters and their origin story. I wanted to expand on this unique character card collector by bringing in some new games inspired by some of my favourite character collector and card collecting games.

Every character and NPC in the game is a unique one off series of spins so no character will be the same (or at least the odds of that are very very low) and new characters are made with every new player so the diversity grows as the community/player-base grows

Whats new:

So I have now built a PvE style Card lane battler (first 2 images) and also a 3v3 Squad Battler (image 4).

The Card battler (named Card Clash for now) is a game mode where you build a deck from packs and from your own unique characters and play against your opponent in a best of 3 game - any Witcher fans might recognise what i was inspired from for this!

The Squad battler is based on your own roster of characters where you battle against other squads of 3 to test your team strength. Currently this roster is from your own character spins and the collection of community spun NPC's to make this as accessible as possible with some fun squad building combinations

Both game modes are in early access to play-test and completely F2P so you don't need any roster to try it out. They are both still early in development with some gameplay features/mechanics still to be added and how deck building will fit into the current in game economy structure.

I would love to hear the feedback on what you think and if anyone wants to try it please do.

I actively take on suggestions, especially from players as part of my game building ethos is that this is a community played game so community requested features and votes decide what direction and additions come to the game. So if you have a cool idea I would love to hear it

FateBreak - Browser based dark fantasy chance and stat based game / DnD inspired

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo dev sharing a browser-based auto-battler I’ve been working on. Honestly, I’ve been trying to learn to code for about 4 years, failing and restarting a lot, but about 8 months ago I finally started building this version and got it off the ground.

It originally started as just a local game on my computer where I was rolling characters for my family and followers on TikTok, but when I finally figured out how to get it online, I expanded it a lot.

The World:

The game is built around a multiverse concept. Right now there are two "verses" you can play in:

FateBreak: A high fantasy layer.

Wheel of Ruin: A grimdark/dark fantasy layer. They exist as stacked realities connected by something called "The Bleed"—basically rips and portals that occasionally cause events, items, or species to cross over.

The Core Loop:

You spin to generate custom characters (species, traits, lore). With each character spin being weighted based on the type of spin you get, so it's a lot of probability based work. From there, you can:

Run them through a 10-round PvE Gauntlet.

Put them on the 1v1 Leaderboard (Standard or Ranked) to fight other players.

Level them up to earn stat boosts, weapons, and tokens.

Enter season-end Battle Royales.

Combat Mechanics:

Combat isn't just "higher number wins." It uses an Elo-style base rating blended with a rock-paper-scissors stat advantage (Speed beats Strength, Strength beats Durability, Durability beats Speed). There's also weightings for things like Intelligence and Height, plus level-advantage modifiers. It's heavily math-based, but there's a flat 5% chance for critical hits and 3% for fumbles, so absolute upsets can and do happen.

Community Aspect:

I always wanted this to be a community driven game, so early on I started running polls and getting feedback from followers on tiktok. To take this further I added in game suggestions and polls where the winning choice (or top few if they're good!) get pushed as priority for the next updates as the game is a living breathing development based on what the players want. Naturally the first voted feature was for a red hat, idk why but it's in game now and it's very powerful because why not.

Monetization & AI:

I want to be completely upfront: because I wanted near-infinite combinations for the character art and their story lore, I use AI generation. To cover the API and server costs, there is a premium for those full character generations.

However, there is a completely free tier. You can do "NPC Spins" for free—this runs the full mechanical character creation and stat rolling so you can play the game normally, it just skips the AI art and deep story generation.

Freebies for Testing:

I don't have a promo code system built into the game yet, but I really just want to get some eyes on the combat balancing, the UI, and the core loop.

If you want to test out the premium generation, just drop your username in the comments here (or hop in the Discord and ping me) and I’ll manually credit your account with some free spins and coins to mess around with (within reason as I don't want to diminish that of people who have paid - so depending on how many of you do this I might have to limit it)

I'm not too sure about how people feel about links in the post but if that's a thing I'll either edit this post or add a comment with the website link and the discord link where you can play the game (I've made it so that you can play the game as an activity on discord as well)

I have a massive roadmap planned for migrating species, adding new verses, and running cross-verse events, but right now I just want to know if the foundation is actually fun. Let me know what you think (or what weird character you end up rolling).
