Working out the kinks of the ionic 9 2026

A service professional at the Hyundai dealership recently use the term "working out the kinks" of our ionic 9. But honestly it's pretty frustrating to have experienced:

-ICCU failure/replacement
-gaps and shrinkage in the tire foam which causes shaking on the highway
-failure of the electronic buttons moving the driver side rear second seat

Our vehicle was new and we've only had it for 10 months. It's the first time we bought a new vehicle. Is it typical for new vehicles?

Problem with second row drivers side seat movement

We have recently experienced difficulty with our ionic 9 second row driver side seat. We prefer that our dog sit in the third row so have regularly pressed the button on the top of the second row driver side seat to move it forward and make it go down so the dog can jump in. It has worked for the first eight months of having the vehicle but now does nothing when we press the button. We have resorted to using the other side which works. Anyone have a similar problem or solutions? does it sound like it's an electrical problem?

PSA for Ioniq 9 Owners: Don’t Skip the Tire Protection

We wanted to give other Ioniq 9 owners a heads-up about an issue we experienced and why we’re glad we purchased the tire protection.

We’ve owned our Ioniq 9 for about 9 months and have 14,000 km on it. On a recent road trip to Toronto, we noticed the steering wheel started shaking at highway speeds.
We brought it in during our scheduled maintenance, and the technician diagnosed the problem as foam inside one of the tires separating. They removed the tire to inspect it and explained that the Ioniq 9 is designed to be a very quiet vehicle, which is why these foam inserts are used.

When I asked what caused it, the technician told me it was a manufacturing defect in the tire, saying there wasn’t enough insulation/foam bonded properly from the factory. When I asked if they’d seen this before, he said they had two other vehicles with the same issue.
They gave us two options:

  1. Remove the foam, which would solve the vibration but increase road noise.
  2. Replace all four tires.

Fortunately, we purchased the optional Diamond Kote tire and wheel protection (48 months, up to $5,000 in coverage). The dealership submitted a claim, and replacing all four tires would cost approximately $2,800, assuming the claim is approved.
The dealership is now waiting for warranty approval before ordering the tires.

If you’re buying an Ioniq 9, this experience alone has made the tire protection worth it for us. Highway steering wheel vibration may not be a balancing issue—it could be worth asking your dealership to inspect the acoustic foam inside the tires.

Has anyone else experienced this on their Ioniq 9 or another Hyundai EV?

Do I have any for negotiation power?

I just signed a lease for a studio apartment. It has very little storage. In our discussion I was told the closet was 9 feet but in fact I found out it is 6 feet. The square footage and quoted was for incorrect. Do I have any chance of arguing for any kind of compensation (reduced monthly rent, storage in the building, or something else)?

Toronto house 255 Adelaide

A lot of these posts are about a year old. I am considering a studio apartment here for June. Can anyone comment about what it's like to live in building and what the neighbourhood is like? Both pros and cons? I am a recent university grad so paying 2k per month (two months free ) for me will be a significant investment.
