Spare a grade please?

Well, now you know why people avoid PGX books. How bad does that tear on the bottom left affect the grade. It sure as heck isn’t a 9.4. Is it even an 8.0? A friend is trying to sell it for a friend, he thought I might be interested but…oof!

Nicest copy of ASM 102 I've ever seen...

...but it has one defect, incredibly common on square bound books - a protruding staple. The lower staple is pushing against the cover, raising a small bump and causing a slight color loss. Besides this, the book has a slightly torn upper left corner and a tiny color break on the lower right corner, but the square bound is perfect - no tears or anything. Pages are white. I'd give this an 8.0 or maybe even an 8.5, if not for the protruding staple and slight color loss. (They're also protruding slightly in the back, but much less than in the front). Is this a forgiven defect for square bound books? Or not counted too much? Thoughts?
