Total time: 32 days / 24 working days (counting from the day after biometrics)

For a while we doubted if we could do this without a solicitor, however it was so easy (despite the VFS Global website being the most frustrating thing to exist!) and collecting the relationship proof part of the evidence was quite fun, it’s like reliving your memories.

I remember when we first looked at visas, it was daunting and I thought we would never be here, but we’ve smashed it and we’re so excited for the future 🤍, & the next application to switch to a spouse visa later this year 😅.

Universal Credit on Arrival

Hi,

I’m hoping someone in this situation can shed some light as I am reading conflicting info.

For a bit of background, we have applied under the fiancé route (currently on WD14 of priority application). I meet the MIR, however I also receive Universal Credit on top of this for me and my child. I understand when my fiance arrives that he has to be added to the claim and I of course understand that he has no access to public funds.

On researching, I am finding conflicting information that I will be paid as a joint claim but it must go to a bank solely in my name (this was never what I thought would happen), but also info stating that he will be added and it will just remain as the single claim amount.

I 100% understand no access to public funds, I was just working out our finances until he can begin working.

I also understand that any money he earns or any savings he has are assessed as part of my Universal Credit claim.

Can anyone in this situation clarify?

Thank you.

✨ Also good luck to anyone still waiting, like us and congrats to those who have had their acceptance already ✨
